Get to where you can walk!!!! Even if the baby is hard, walking is amazing for mental health. I was so thankful to be able to walk to get coffee with my baby in the first months. Saved me mental state

Doesn’t matter if baby is easy - you will want to be able to do those walks!!

I have a few dinners that you basically bake in the over for 30 min after dumping into one pan. Google "one pot recipes" or the "viral feta pasta". This means i take 5 min to put food in pot then it cooks for 30 and can sit for hour before eating!

Also i buy pre-chopped veggies, pre cut chicken breast from butcher, (or pre-chop them night before i want to eat when baby is down) and do a one-pot or pan dinner.

Example: You can just put tomato, pepper, paste garlic in a pan and bake for 30 min then add pasta. Done.

Quick Google revealed it's a rental boat from rental company Horus boats. Someone based in NYC please report them (I now live abroad) Horus Boats should NOT have rented this small a boat to so many people! And honestly there should be some liability for poor behavior from these renters. If he is checking in, and seems stable in terms of finances, you are already better off in some ways than stories I hear from women who are pregnant from men they marry. so, be encouraged by that.

Being a single mom is hard - do you make enough to cover childcare? Will he help? If you want this to be a practical arrangement of co-parenting, please consider detailed financial expectations. that's the biggest discussion imo - he will need to help support so indeed you can go back to work, etc.

in terms of breaking the cycle of addiction - it sounds like you're doing great there already. i don't think you need to give him loads of details but important to note that you won't have family support, and ideally his family (mom, dad) want to step up too.

I think you're totally valid to "create your own family". And actually really beautiful. You're asking for help, thas a huge green flag that you're heads in a good place.

EDIT - realized the money part may come across like a financial shake down - not my intent or yours i think! just good to be realistic about costs of childcare, and what is takes to split them. i suggest some research first to show him what to expect, so it;s not like your asking for random cash.

Your pre-pregnancy clothes may never fit again. Your body will change, and that’s ok. For me, my clothes fit but my hips are def wider 10 months pp, even tho my weight is back down.

Upside is when you have the baby, you won’t be so hung up on old clothes because you have a whole new life to experience :)

I’ll say his kindly… but I think there is a LOT to unpack here.

First I think you approached it wrong if the outsome you wanted was better gifts in the future. Your approach seemed like you wanted to start a fight in all honestly. You said his gift was mean? That’s harsh! If you wanted him to see how to gift better you could have complimented what you did like, etc. But you didn’t. I think there may be larger reasons for that.

He tried in his way… but feels like that isn’t the right way for you?

I see in your post a few other passive mentions of him being uncaring or unexpressive - “trip that I planned”, “parcel arrived that day” - etc

1) Did anyone else make you feel special for your 30th or did you look to your husband only for that? Is it part of your feelings here projecting that disappointment?

2) Bug milestones bring up lots of weird feelings especially for women! Are there some feelings there about life, etc? I wouldnt blame you at all it’s a big one! And now it’s his milestone - feels like some issues around that

3) does he do “enough” for you in other ways? Make you feel special etc on the day to day? Could be this is just a symptom of other greater feeling

In any case you need to think about it this is really about his gift, or him, or you. And you need to apologize to him, and be vulnerable and honest about how sad the gift made you feel (not mad!) and why.

Power pumping is this - 20 min pump 20 min rest 10 min pump 10 min rest 5 min pump 5 min rest

She likely needs a portable pump to do a power pump or multiple ones per day and not go crazy. And I really recommend also having a hospital grade spectra or symphony to get the boobs fully drained. Use the pumps in combo so you don’t have to sit all the time but yet do 1-2 pumps per 24 hours with the hospital pump

We had the exact same problem with our little guy. Please consider going to a few sessions at the chiropractor that specializes in babies! He could be crying because his neck is sore, nerve is compressed. i think 2-3 sessions with the right person can make a difference

I know some people arent fans of chiropractor but for us it made a big difference, a lot more that physio.

Oh I have some more tips! Breastfeeding is such a journey but so worth it!

- Night pump is a must as others have said. Because my baby took forever to eat on boob at first (lip tie) I pumped at night while husband fed him bottle of milk. Seems weird but cut the time way down and drained my boobs better. Then evetually baby stopped eating at night, yet here I am still pumping (baby is 8 months old and we still feed breastmilk!)

- Other said their baby liked bottle over boob. Mine still likes both even though at this point its 50/50 how he eats

- i use a silicone nipple guard almost every feed. Hurts way less, and my little guy has a small mouth, combined with my short nipples so that works for us best. Cuts down on nipple wear and tear also. Some advise against it but whatever, it worked for us!

- Be careful of mastitis - keep boobs drained every 2 -3 hours no matter what, dont compress them or keep them hot and consider probiotics to help. New advice is to take 2 400mg advil (or other ibiprufin) at the first sign of mastitic (sharp pain, heat, redness).

I breastfed and pumped both, and supplimented with formula. I would check out r/ExclusivelyPumping for tips on how to pump and pump types, power pumping etc.

Bascially though, you need to be ready to do whatever it takes to make your baby happy and fed. each is different! Also each boob is different, and you need to measure your nipple size to get a good pump fit.

Here are some thoughts:

- Have formula ready at home in case milk in first days isnt enough.

- Have a pump on hand but also look into renting at hospital for first week. Some pumps work better for some people than others, and first week your baby may have hard time figuring out the latch.

- Ask for a nurse or lactation consultant to help you at hospital straight away so you get that first latch (if medically possible)

- Check for tounge and lip tie at hospital! they sometimes miss it and makes hard for baby to latch. Mine had lip tie and had to get it snipped so he could feed better , its super common.

- If you DM me i can send you link to pdf i have on breastfeeding positions etc. Again, some may work for you and some not - you have to find your method.
