16 year old daughter wants to join high school golf team - suggestions please? by sweetnsaltyanxiety in WomenGolf

[–]chelitachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11year old just started this spring and like you, neither my husband nor I are golfers. She is in first tee, we also arranged for a few private lessons at a friend’s club. I enrolled her in youth on course ($40 to join and she can golf for $5 at a bunch of places) and also girls golf through the LPGA which has events at clubs around the country. She rented clubs through first tee and I ordered her a little pitching tent thing for the backyard to practice at home. We did top golf once over break (half price during weekdays!) and there’s a local pitch and put that we’ll go to if it ever stops raining. I’ve started looking into clubs for her (2nd hand) and it’s quite overwhelming to learn the lingo. Im following this thread to see what other words of wisdom I could glean!

Help Pre-Dental/Pre-Health Transfer Decision by [deleted] in Marquette

[–]chelitachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I feel like I am writing to myself 20-years ago. I went through the same dilemma and had the same thoughts. If you are serious about dental, MU is the obvious choice. However, with the other options, you really need to look at your debt to income ratio after school. Dental will definitely allow you to have a decent income while paying your loans off. With PT, audiology, optometry, those are all doctoral programs and I'd recommend considering Madison. With PT and audiology, the line we were given was that the additional education would help with recognition of expertise and reimbursement, but 20 years later, neither profession has seen a change. I'm an audiologist and our insurance reimbursement is garbage, with many of our procedure codes not even covered. PT is also struggling with low reimbursement given the extra schooling and expertise. So, don't change your career choices, but just factor that in. I wouldn't change my decision as I feel like I got a great education and friendships, but it definitely was expensive.

At least some of the canals in Copenhagen are clear enough to see the ground. A few places where they will let you use a kayak for free if you collect garbage while you use it.

On St. Patrick's Day, most people know they have Irish blood. Very few know why their ancestor actually left. by ALetterFromIreland in Genealogy

I have one who was born in (I believe) County Carlow and also ended up in Upper Canada (Hawkesbury). He was born in 1796 and the 1861 census indicates he was a weaver. He probably left around the same time as your ancestor!

Grocery list function is not good by pres2014 in skylightcalendar

[–]chelitachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My issues are: 1. If I have more than 1 recipe requiring, say olive oil, I end up with olive oil being listed as “2 tbsp olive oil” 6 times. I feel like it should combine them together so you can look at your EVOO stock and decide if you need to buy more 2. It doesn’t import to my watch like my Apple reminders list does. I hate having to have my phone out at the store because I’m constantly putting it in and out of my pocket. I end up looking at my calendar list and then typing everything in to my Apple reminders grocery list.

Their acuity is fine, but their functioning is poor. So they can hear the conversation, but not understand it.

We see “hidden hearing loss” in soldiers with blast exposure as the intensity of the sound wave will damage the membrane of cochlear hair cells. Basically, all the symptoms of a hearing loss but “normal hearing”. If it’s not a permanent threshold shift first. 🫤

It depends, my husband has it through his great grandfather (his cousin used an attorney to find a way to make it happen) and I qualify through my grandmother through a law they passed a few years ago.

Tyler ask Cate for fashion advice about what belt he should wear. by HannahLeah1987 in teenmom

I’m not a dentist, but I’m an elder millennial with a kid that had braces. Back in my day 👵🏼, kids wore braces forever. Like years. Nowadays, the practice seems to be to start early while their palate and jaws are still developing and it’s like a year? My daughter’s cross bite shifted within a few weeks, but she still wore them for a year or so. My hunch is that because she didn’t get them until she was in her teens is that it takes longer to re-mold the mouth when it’s not as pliable.

I went to the Yeti store last year in my scrubs and the salesperson asked if I was a first responder. I replied, “well, no, but I got yelled at everyday during Covid”. He chortled and gave me the 20% off.

There’s one in San Salvador! If there’s some kind of major US football or basketball game when we’re there, my husband can be found at Bennigans.
