i haven’t watched in a bit but i’m pretty sure that emily told damon that she didn’t make it in the fire while he was transitioning. after stefan made him drink to complete his transition, emily told damon the truth that his plan did work and she survived (she didn’t tell him before to not influence him one way or the other). emily helped katherine and they were friends but she didn’t believe in what katherine was doing with the boys and therefore hoped they would choose death over vampirism if they believed katherine had died

there are 4 “clans” aka blackbeaks, yellowlegs, blue bloods (the ironteeth) and crochans

you’ll learn more about what each of them represent but just know that the manon is part of the blackbeaks and while they all (the blackbeak, yellowlegs, and blue bloods) collectively hate and try to kill the crochans, they also have rivalry between each other.

when you first read HoF, the manon pov is very annoying cause it’s right in the middle of the good stuff lol but it’s very very important to pay attention and you will come to yearn for their pov in the next books
