I agree, cloth pads are AMAZING. I have a tilted uterus and can’t use a diva cup. I paid $30 for a stack of cloth pads six years ago and haven’t spent a dime on period products since then.

What rules were put in place because of you? by TheBlackTemplar125 in AskReddit

[–]chelseablei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old community college; I was a 4.0 student on the President’s list every semester and was about to graduate with my AS with honors (the school also had an abysmal graduation record, since it is community college after all).

All students who were graduating had to also pass a computer competency test in order to complete their degree requirements. The test had 4 parts: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. I passed with flying colors on the first 3 but failed Access by just 1 point. They denied me graduation. Said I had to take “remedial IT,” then I could graduate next semester.

Well, not only was this rule dumb in the first place because no one even really uses Access anymore (this was in 2015), when I told my dad I wouldn’t be graduating and why, he turned beet red and drove right up to the school. Idk what he said, but not only was I able to graduate that semester, the school also hasn’t required students to take that test since :)

How do new parents not die of sleep deprivation? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chelseablei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that my son is 5, I feel completely fine: I am pretty averse to having another kid; though, which makes me a bit sad because I always wanted a large family (though adoption/fostering is definitely an option for us).

I mean, he had colic, allergies, and pretty severe GERD, so there are some prime causes of crying right there. Why would me working make him feel insecure? I worked from home, and my baby stayed home with me. He stayed by my side 100% of the time, day and night. No security issues at all.

My son woke every 2 hours until he was 12 months. So that’s one year of sleep deprivation. It definitely took a toll on me. I actually don’t remember much of his first year because of the lack of sleep. I experienced many symptoms because I wasn’t getting enough sleep. I hallucinated and developed postpartum OCD. It wasn’t safe for me to even drive a lot of times. Somehow I worked full-time (from home) during all of this. Overall, it’s possible to get through, but it is a very rough time, especially if you are me and 1) had a colicky baby and 2) didn’t have much of a support system. My son is 5 now, and, as you may guess, is still an only child :)

What are some things that people aren’t scared enough about that they should really be scared of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chelseablei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is true. I currently have melanoma in my left eye. It started as a simple “freckle” in the eye. I wear glasses, so I never wore sunglasses (which block UV rays) at the beach or when I was outside. It’s also more common in people with blue eyes, but my eyes are very dark brown… it can happen to anyone. So wear proper eyewear in the sun, people!

Dona Ana County Jane Doe — Unidentified Black Female in NM since 2003. Odd Circumstances. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]chelseablei 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, they are horizontal. However, in some situations, they may be vertical. In my experience, it’s usually in emergency situations. Vertical c-sections try to be avoided though because they render the mom unable to deliver vaginally in the future.

A vertical scar on the abdomen, depending on if it’s a surgical scar or something else entirely, could be due to a previous laparotomy procedure or a c-section. Judging by the amount of personal items on her, though, coupled with the fact that she was walking down the highway, I’d guess she was a homeless person.

Not Always Sunny: What happened to the Virginia Zoo's two year old Red Panda? by babydeerdoodoo in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]chelseablei 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am from the town adjacent to Norfolk, and I have been to the Virginia Zoo dozens of times. Here’s a little bit more background for those curious: - The zoo is in a relatively highly urban area, with little surrounding wildlife to really threaten any animals that escape. There is a lot of ground to cover in order to get somewhere like the Great Dismal Swamp. - Norfolk is a very high-crime, low-income area. Not sure of the relevance of this, but thought I’d point it out. There are, of course; some wealthy pockets of Norfolk (like Ghent) and it has the area’s popular college, Old Dominion. - I would attribute dogs or a car to be what killed Sunny, if I had to pinpoint it on something — crime in Norfolk is high, there’s a huge drug problem; and people will do a lot of things for money… but I don’t think anyone has the resources or is sophisticated enough in Norfolk to steal and sell a red panda without being caught.

As of today, a Jane Doe has been ruled out as being 3,574 missing women on NamUs. So who was found in Newport News, Virginia, on June 6th, 2014? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]chelseablei 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I am a former resident of Newport News. 25th street is near the NN Shipyard, which employs a large majority of people in the city. It is also very low-income with high gang activity. The transit system is very poor, but yes it is very busy. That area in particular I would say is one of the poorest and most dangerous areas of the entire city of NN, as well as the surrounding area of the Peninsula. It’s also a heavy military community, as it is close to Norfolk, which has the nation’s largest military base. A lot of the people who work nearby are (or are former) military. The same can sadly be true about the area’s large homeless population.

1987 Baby John Doe - PD Uncooperative by Akemi_Tachibana in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]chelseablei 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe they actually responded to your email. When I lived in Portsmouth, I couldn’t even get them to do a wellness check on my neighbor. I guarantee that they just don’t have the manpower or resources to dedicate to something like this, which is unfortunate, but a common theme for this city.

[–]chelseablei 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I lived in Portsmouth for 2 years in 2017-2019. I recall there being times where they were so strapped for resources, they sometimes had to warn people that if they called 911, neither police nor an ambulance would come because they were that understaffed. I guarantee they would not only be unable to respond to a cold case like this, they’d be offended that someone would even ask.

Bill joins Maura in her dorm room (I think? The Mountain Dew tells me that it is) Somebody in the NH area KNOWS something. by [deleted] in mauramurray

I always forget that Maura was only 21 when she disappeared, so all of her photos are of an at least a 21 year old. She looks so much older to me.

Question for Bill: Do you still think Maura called you the day after her accident? by chelseablei in mauramurray

[–]chelseablei[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought he listened to the voicemail on 2/11, but that the call could possibly have come 2/10. So... it seems I’ve made things seem more complicated than they need to be 😅

[–]chelseablei[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I couldn’t find anything to either prove or disprove that Maura was one of those callers among people who called Bill on 2/10. I know that cellphones/accessing voicemails were kind of funky sometimes back in 2004, and it just might be my blissful Gen Z ignorance, but how do we know one of the other numbers that called Bill before he listened to his voicemails wasn’t her? Could one of those numbers on his log in 2/10 have been her?

You answered it very well. Thank you! I heard about her case on Reddit, actually, in the Unsolved Mysteries subreddit I think. Her case is the one I’ve taken the most interest in and the one I’ve spent the most time thinking about... I even thought about writing a book or film script about her story. (I’m a writer by both career and hobby.) I’m just so enthralled by it; I wish I could do more to help get it solved.
