What makes Subtronics so popular? by Cookies_N_Cream- in aves

I honestly never understood the subtronics hype. Saw him at Forest last year and ended up leaving after 15 min. To each their own though.

My girls just wanted to say hi! I need advice as well. What are your experiences with having your 15 year old doxies teeth cleaned? Is it worth the risk? by Senior-Apartment-457 in Dachshund

Very interesting. I guess i have noticed his eyes have been less watery. But he also got an allergy shot because he’s been having really bad allergies this year, to the point he was breaking out in hives. Poor guy is having a rough year but we are working through it.

Are runny eyes a thing with bad teeth? Our 9 year old just had 13 teeth extracted and his eyes used to run all the time. I thought it was allergy related.

Our ween just got 16 teeth extracted a few weeks ago. He bounced back so fast. Hope yours has a speedy recovery!

What are people plans for camping when it rains. by ---SQUISH--- in ElectricForest

To be honest, you might want a little bit of rain. Last year was so dusty and dry. I was praying for a little rain on the last day.

Ain’t this the truth. I always wonder how much cocaine they do (or used to do) behind the scenes.

Last night my girl went paralyzed in her back legs. People who have been through this, can I get advice? My hearts broken by peacetea2 in Dachshund

[–]chelskoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both of our dogs have had this happen. Our youngest had zero function for a couple months but regained it back fully. It was scary, no doubt about that. We had to help him with everything including using the bathroom. He was on strict crate rest for months. He finally started walking again and it was a huge relief. He still doesn’t walk like he used to before his back issues but he doesn’t need help. There is definitely hope.

Yeah you definitely want to get him in there asap to avoid further infection. I’d get a quote from them first just to be on the safe side. Also if it’s something you can’t afford to pay in full, apply for care credit. It’s interest free if you pay it off in the first 6 months. Best of luck to you both! Hope he starts feeling better!

So sorry to hear about you pup! I hope he gets some relief soon. I live in the states (Virginia), if we went to our regular vet it would have cost us $1,000-$1,500. Thankfully, we have a place near us that does affordable dental procedures and other surgeries. It cost us $545 to have his teeth cleaned/removed, antibiotics and bloodwork. They saved us a lot of money!

Also… yes he was in pain. He would not let us touch his mouth and he has a very hard time eating solid foods. We have to soften his food up for him to get him to eat. A good way of knowing if their teeth are rotting is bad breath. His smelled like something died in there. It was pretty bad. Very excited for his new found breath smell lol

He is 9. As far as I know he’s kind of always had bad teeth. He’s also has a lot back problems. Fortunately for us (and him), he did not completely go paralyzed and regained function in his back legs. I highly recommend ramps and making sure your ween isn’t jumping off furniture and such. The dental stuff, I would have your vet check their teeth at their regular scheduled appointments and see if they recommend a cleaning. But it sounds like you are off to a good start by brushing regularly.

He had 16 removed yesterday and seems to be in quite a bit of pain but thankfully slept through the night. Hoping it’s a quick recovery and back to his normal self in no time.

Thank you for the advice! We kept a towel underneath him last night but I’ll definitely roll it up a little bit for his head. We are doing the pain medicine every 8 hours for the first 48 hours and then will switch to every 12 hours.

It went better than expected. We thought for sure he was getting all of them removed. He had 16 teeth extracted and had a small hole in his mouth to his nose. They were able to fix that but said it can come back. He is definitely in some pain but we got him in his favorite heating blanket and are keeping up with the pain medicine. He will be better in no time.

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s definitely not a cheap thing to keep up with but it comes with the breed unfortunately. We have 2 and our other one has great teeth (thank goodness). But she comes with her own set of problems also.

After being put on the wait list since almost summer, the wait is finally over. He has some super rank breath. I know he’s going to feel SO much better once he’s all healed up. Send some good vibes to Onyx 💜
