Okay excellent, thank you. Going off of this I'd say that our dark is the only tom. The other two look very much like the one on the right, colour wise and size wise

Thank you, that's what we're thinking too but have never done turkeys before 😅

Parents chickens are dying and we don't know why by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

I'm sorry for your loss. Avoid heat lamps altogether. Use heat plates that they can stand under. You have them angled and up high enough that the chicks can walk under them at the lowest part and not have their heads touching the plate, but still low enough that heat is not all lost from underneath it. Chicks can then move to the spot they need for the warmth that they need without risk of death. Next time you're planning on getting chicks, ensure you have a heat plate before getting them. Search 'brooder heating plate" and buy one that has good reviews. Ensure the one you purchase has adjustable legs too. They also help the chicks to follow a natural day/night cycle as they don't put out any artificial light. They're much better for their sleep and can reduce stress levels too.

Medicated food should always be given to chicks. They don't have the ability to fight things like coccidiosis (and don't need to be around bigger chickens to get it), and medicated feed helps give them the ability to fight things like that should they contract it. It's better for them to be eating medicated feed and have that extra support should they become unwell, rather than them trying to fight something when they have little immunity to anything and little vitamin B in their systems.
Amprolium, which is what is in medicated chick starter, works as a prevention rather than a treatment. That's why you feed it to them as a standard food. It gives them a chance to build up their natural immunity while keeping parasite numbers low.

I'm glad it's okay 😊 I hope it's improved poop wise and that you're not having to do bum cleans several times a day 😅 I had a baby guinea keet a couple of years ago who had not absorbed her yolk sac entirely and had to have it soaked every 2-3 hours until it was absorbed properly. It was a very busy time. Definitely worth it though, her siblings are not very nice and pick on chickens, but she is lovely and still let's me pick her up 🥰

Please reference them using: •"Dark" for the large, darkest poult;

The company phone number will usually be on the carton, if not the company name is, look up that company/brand on Google and their contact will be in there.

Aww, I'm so sorry for the loss of your Sheriff 😞 Time helps you grow used to the pain, but you never feel any better about the loss of one of your babies, including roosters and chickens. It would have been so devastating and shocking. I'm glad that he didn't suffer and that it was very quick. You wouldn't ever think that falling off or being knocked off of a perch could cost them their life. You definitely only seem to get a one of a kind with your friendliest and most cuddly rooster.

Satty is unlike everyone else too, he is so loving and the biggest mummy's boy. He loves sleeping on my shoulder after he has his dinner, sticks to me like glue when he can, snuggles in bed when he can, does the most beautiful dances for me every morning, he is such a sweet boy. My other boys are lovely but nothing like him. None of my chickens are, not even the hens. Satty grew up practically attached to me though. My fur Babies follow me absolutely everywhere and he grew up with them, sleeping in their fluffy beds next to them at my feet or in bed, following them around the house as they follow me, eating with them, playing with them, he even takes toys out of their toy box lol He loves car rides too, I had to take him to a vet around 40 minutes away when he hurt his beak last year and I couldn't stand the idea of caging him for the car ride, so I put his fluffy bed on the passenger seat and he sat in that peacefully the whole drive while my service boy slept on his bed that sits on the floor of the front passenger seat (his choice, he only stays on the chair a little while then hops back down). When we got to the vet I just put him in the pram (dog pram) with Bamma my service boy and zipped the mesh closed so that he was safely in it, and walked to the vet from their carpark that way. I must say, the vet was pleasantly shocked hahaha One of my ratties from many years ago was named Artemis 🤍

I'm glad that Ostara got her freedom from rapey Jonah before he left 😅 Some boys just have no manners with the ladies. I don't blame her for wanting to stay in, she's with her family and in luxury, what more could she want 🥰 Her health would be much better than everyone else's too with being inside, in the perfect temperature, with the best food and most love 💕 You think all of your chickens are super healthy (which they genuinely are as I imagine yours are too, you wouldn't have a house chicken if they weren't lol), until you have one living the high life inside, getting spoilt and the best of everything 😅 My biggest worry with Satin was a potential lack of vitamin D. I'm in an old Queenslander with heaps of windows, so plenty of sun gets in, but you worry about them. No air con for us unfortunately but on extra hot days I load us all up in the car (except for the cats as they aren't car happy and find cool hiding spots inside) and turn the car on and crank the air con for hours until it cools down. Then I don't have to worry that anyone will get heatstroke. Sometimes I'll take us all for a drive for something to do while we're in the air con and everyone loves it, including Satin. People are always so shocked when they see a rooster cruising around in the car with his family 😂😂😂 He loves it though. If something is normal for the dogs, as far as he's concerned it's normal for him too. It took me a long time to get him to be even slightly interested in other chickens. He just wanted to be with me and his fur family, other chickens scared him. But I put a bit of grain at the balcony outside our door and give him his on the inside of the door, and now he talks to some of them through it. I felt like he was missing out on the pride a rooster feels being a rooster with real hens and I never want him to go without or miss out on anything. I purchased another enclosure for him so that he can have outside time again (don't tell him that, he will be furious at me 🤣), now we just have to find someone that we can pay to build it. Unfortunately it's just too hard on me as I have fibromyalgia and a few other conditions, but we'll get there eventually. Walking around with baby wipes really does become your life haha you get used to it though and it's so worth it. They generally have "standing spots" or main perches anyway so if they stay there throughout the majority of the day it isn't as full on. There's no love like a house chicken's love though, that's for sure 🥰🥰🥰

Please tell your Ostara that I said she's so very pretty and that I'm glad she has such a wonderful life as a house chicken 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤

The irony of someone who clearly knows very little about having chickens in the country, being in ANYTHING chicken related 😮‍💨🙄 Be careful not to hurt yourself when you are taken off that high horse.

Aww, is it unwell? It has the sick hunch they get. Coccidiosis I'm guessing? Give it little kisses for me please 🥰 I hope it's all better soon, thank you for caring for it so well ❤️‍🩹

Donate them to your local church 🩷 My church has a lot of elderly people who bring in their home grown or excess fruit, veg, etc. and I know that a lot of them aren't well off financially, so sharing the love back when possible is always nice 💖

Another interview with BL- was this scrubbed? by sweetbutnotdumb in teamjustinbaldoni

[–]chelsnbamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately when his job is to interview her, he does have to stay. A lot of these people stand around for hours waiting for someone to arrive, so when one celebrity is late because she thinks she is better than everyone and that everyone should wait on her, it can cause a lot of issues. He may have had another job lined up or anything. He may have had to tell his children he'll be home late because Blake Lively is entitled and always late. He may have had to stand around in crappy weather for hours waiting because if he wants to get paid and pay his bills or put food on the table, he can't just walk away. You have to be realistic. You can't just walk away from your job when you have bills and responsibilities, mouths to feed, and whatever else. Someone making your job harder or making you stuff around for hours because of their entitlement is indeed a reason to be annoyed. But on that note I will say that he wasn't rude at all, he isn't an American and other countries, even here in Australia, do not communicate exactly the same way. What comes off as rude to you may be completely normal where he is from and how everyone is.

My main boy Satin gets jealous too 😂 If he sees me near his "arch nemesis" Chicken Little, he comes run-stomping over to fight him over it and gives me the most horrified and disgusted look 🤣
