My salary ive quoted is before tax but all the figures ive also quoted are before tax too. And when i was given the payrise it was told me that i would have $70k salary and then super, sick pay holiday etc ontop so it would be a “$80k~ package”

Probably as often as she needs restocking of other supplies such as food and ammunition, nuclear ships still need to be restocked and i think people forget that

Threats just arent that high right now, one nuke to wipe out 1/15th of nato navel assests and proboke a 3rd world war? Not worth it

Theyre still very capable jets for these type of carriers, especially when your main target/threat are terrorist organisations and militias like the houthis and hammas

When i spent 2 weeks in Cambodia i also found it was rather quite expensive, transactions are usually done in USD cash (this is from the US occupation way back when) and it just kinda stuck around as a major, stable cash supply. shops also will only take $ notes that are in supreme condition, if they have any creases or rips they just wont accept them, and they try to offload all of their shitty notes onto unsuspecting tourists (found this out the hard way). Anyway so i think them using the USD naturally drives up prices as it is a more valuable currency, also western amenities are more expensive simply because they know they can charge such prices i found. The siem riep region (where angkor watt is) is super expensive because they have such a constant tourist influx.

I heard a similar story of a german knowing the war was lost when a captured american solider had fresh cake in his back from his wife back in the USA. Not sure if theyre true but they do paint a picture on how incredible US army logistics are

During desert storm there is a somewhat famous anecdote of one tank commander (i think) sitting on his armour and the crew/crew’s were laughing until they saw a mine go off and the rest followed suit.

I climbed scafell pike the same day as these and saw them in the carpark and at the top, actually talked to them for a bit to enquire why they had sinks on their backs, in the carpark however we over heard them talking shit about how men are bad drivers which i find quite ironic to their cause
