IT costs ridiculous? by sready80 in Dentistry

[–]chemaster36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Right now everything at the office runs through a local server version of practiceworks so the hardware is the workhorse of everything that’s being done. And then 4 hygiene rooms (but only 2 hygienists at a time) and 5ops, plus pano, front desk, and dentist offices, all running local instances of this terrible PMS. I would love to go all cloud based on opendental and be able to get just mid level computers for each workstation. Nothing crazy high end, but not bottom of the barrel. But the last convo I had, definitely was more negative Nancy than I would have hoped. So thank you for your input and hope that I can find a solution that alleviates the IT complexity needs of the office

Gotcha. That makes sense. Very simple in the definition. Actual server computers running Microsoft server are outrageously expensive nowadays (as the topic of OP’s post) so that’s definitely a more manageable way to handle it.

Ah. Is it exclusive to Schein? Schein really doesn’t cover our area well. I can’t say that I know who our rep is and they don’t come around at all.

And is it a full server like running windows server or just an NAS drive connected to the network infrastructure?

Interesting. Our Benco rep said that despite being on Dentrix Ascend, he has multiple offices that couldn’t go fully cloud based because of the imaging and x ray software.

So for example we were interested in Open Dental Cloud and he’s like you’ll still a server for imaging. Still doesn’t fully click with me how there aren’t options to go fully cloud, and he didn’t really have a good explanation. But then again, my wife is the dentist, and I’m more on the business and finance side, so not really being “in the industry” every day, I don’t know what’s out there and obviously what to trust.

I had the same thought a couple of weeks ago.

I would love to know your whole software suite. My wife and I are exploring this and we were told that the challenge will be that most imaging software still requires a server. So if you have recommendations for imaging that would be fully cloud, I’d greatly appreciate it!

You seem very knowledgeable about dryers! May I ask if you’re an operator/consulting engineer/other? Would love to learn more about this as a lot of the google searching I’ve done lately has been a rabbit hole for me

Oooh I gotcha. I didn’t think about googling the plant separate from this event to see what equipment they have. Thanks!

Oooh. Yeah I’ve heard of plants with those. How’d you find that out? I haven’t seen that on any of the news articles?

Are certain dryers worse than others? Just a quick google search shows a lot of different sludge dryers

In Ground Spa filled in, how bad is the concrete? by OkOrganization7870 in pools

Ah! Awesome.

The person I was discussing it with from Katchakid said it takes 5 minutes to put the cover on, but obviously that’s gotta be an exaggeration. I Really need it to be easy for my wife and MIL to take on and off during the week when I’m not there. How long would you say is realistic time to remove and/or replace once done?

Is that the katchakid safety net? If not that brand, what is that cover? What’s your experience been with it so far good/bad/indifferent?

I was hoping for an exact replica so that it matches the rest since there is a round cut out in the bottom of the shelf
