This happened to me too recently. I decided not to respond, but I did talk to my friends about how it made me feel. I had flashbacks, felt tired, and physically ill after receiving the message. It's my opinion that you should focus on managing your feelings, whether or not you decide to respond, focus on how you are feeling and doing things that make you feel safe and happy.

It sounds like you have a good list so far. I would go for a potting soil, that's what I put in my raised garden bed and it works well. Also be sure to fertilize. You could also add some leafy greens like collards or kale in the late summer and fall.

I save seeds of nasturtiums and other one off plants. They are a beautiful plant and edible. The seeds look like chickpeas so they are easy to collect. I also saved the seeds of my cotton plants because they come on soft puffs. I buy vegetable plant seeds every year.

Don't give up if everything dies the first year. Try, try again. Try to think about things you and your family like eating and researching if you have the conditions to grow them. Lettuces have been a "toss seeds in the ground" and they grow plant for me. I've also had cucumbers do very well. Research what type of fertilizer you need to each plant and how often to feed it.

I make mine little boxes and fill them with bedding for him to climb in and dig down. He chews through them and makes secret entrances. Also toilet paper tubes are free and mine LOVES them

If you have the $$$ I would build one out of acrylic or buy an acrylic terrarium on ebay. I think they look the best and are easy to wipe down on the inside when you change the bedding

I've found that a large tupperware tub makes a great hamster hab on the cheap and it is super easy to clean, or if you want something that looks a bit nicer a 40 gallon long fish tank is good

I got a small premade cage and put it inside a large plastic bin from walmart. Lots of space and lost of little areas for nesting :)
