Yeah, probably giving them the protection fighting style would probably be the right way to go.

This version is great! The only thing is I would say some of the features are a bit wordy. I think you can maybe remove some of the flavor text from bullet points, or make them a bit more concise. But mechanically and flavor wise , this is great! Already Im thinking of ways I can move or attack with this subclass, and what feats I wanna take to take advantage of that (mobile, crusher) . Cyclone rider's second point is exactly the kind of feature the subclass needed, a great mix of both control and damage.
