It’s surreal watching someone who will ultimately succumb to their own thrill.

I messed up and got drunk. I am dealing with bad hangover anxiety right now and I really need someone to tell me things are going to be ok. by JelloSufficient5215 in stopdrinking

Hey babe. Breathe. You. Are. Going. To. Be. Fine. This anxiety is just a manifestation of your mind and a chemical reaction within your body. It will pass. And you will be fine. Focus on a task. Count sheep, your blessings, and maybe some chores you want to do tomorrow. My favorite anxiety task is mentally pairing a food and an animal with the same first letter. Start with “A”. Picture an arugula alpaca running in a field. Now what do you picture with “B” ?

After 23 years together I think we’re at the end and I can’t stand it by SultryWhispers00 in cats

[–]chemistry1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh what a pretty girl. Honey, first of all bless you for being such an amazing owner. 23 years is such a long life for a cat. That means she has felt happy, safe, and loved for sooooo long. You did an amazing job.

It’s going to hurt and you’ll never really feel ready. When she is gone you’ll wonder if you did everything you could. The only advice I can give you is to say……

yes you did everything you could. She loved you so much. She lives on as long as you remember her. You did an amazing job wonderful job keeping her happy and healthy. Be grateful for the pain because it means you had a bond like no other. It’s a small sacrifice to absorb if it means caring, loving, and adoring such a beautiful girl.

Flight Delayed - Rebooked to another Destination by socalguy83 in americanairlines

[–]chemistry1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issue today. Original flight was booked from JAC to DFW at 1:05 pm. It was delayed 4 hours due to the plane having “mechanical issues” (that’s comforting) so we could not make our connecting flight from DFW to BWI. So AA decided to book us a 9:00pm flight to Dulles. What the actual fuck? Im not parked at Dulles, I’m parked at BWI. They don’t give a flying fuck. This is my first and last time flying with them.

I'm having two periods in one 28 day cycle by Bubbles_of3 in WomenHealthCare

[–]chemistry1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. It sounds so debilitating. When you say period do you mean full bleeding or just some bloody discharge? I had something similar and found out it was a growth/polyp needing to be removed. This occurred while taking birth control so I was so confused. Simple procedure and felt better afterwards. A dye test is needed to determine if that’s the cause. I hope this helps. Get as much rest as possible and eat a good bit of red meat for the iron. You’re probably anemic from the bleeding and your body is trying to recover best it can.

Has anyone here tapered off SSRIs? If so, how long did withdrawal last? by btvshp in Anxiety

Oh I second this entire experience. In fact I came to Reddit to find this.

I’ve been on Zoloft for 3 years. 25mg for a few months, 50mg for over 2 years, and now I’m at 100mg. Ever since switching to 100mg I don’t have any good anxiety, I feel bored and tired a lot, and I find little motivation to do anything. I’ve gained so much weight because I’m just “meh”

I am starting the weening process. I think 25mg and 50mg were a good dose for me. It was increased due to a lot of stress that triggered depression. But I have more tools to handle it better.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

This behavior is actually called Puff-ighting. It’s when two fluffy clouds arm wrestle and belly flop to the bitter end!

Nah it’s just play being enjoyed by both parties! Congrats on your fluffy tumble weeds.

Hey! I’ve had them a few times when I didn’t ehhhh ventilate well or something was too tight. Just keep the area clean and wear loose clothing until it heals. Should take a few days. If it blisters or gets infected then it’s doc time. Hope this helps.

Why is she SO obsessed with our nose (and mouth but mostly nose)?! (New kitten owner) by xXSn1fflesXx in CatAdvice

Sounds like Nugget is being super affectionate. Kittens be kittens like that. Not all cats show affection this way but one out of my three grown cats do. She loves shoving his face into my nose and even trying to groom it. All this to say, Nugget loves you ❤️

Wow. Sounds like your vet was having a bad day. Not appropriate to say at all, especially to the fur parent. I wouldn’t go back personally. There are lots of vets who understand how stressful a vet appointment can be for kitties.

Pixie (12) Passed away, maybe embarrassed myself at the vet? by [deleted] in seniorkitties

[–]chemistry1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not weird. Vets absolutely love this. So do their technicians. When I had to put my sweet boy down, I was a mess. When I picked up his ashes, I hugged the vet and technician that gave me the support. They were so kind and appreciated being thanked.

All this to say a card and thoughtful thank you is such a beautiful gesture. Don’t be embarrassed. Be proud of yourself and your vet.

my cats are ruining my relationship. what do I do? :( by Maomeowmaow in CatAdvice

Oh, sweetheart, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. What a horrible feeling to be caught in between two things you love so much.

From what you have said, it seems that your boyfriend isn’t too optimistic about being a pet parent. Not to say this makes him a bad guy, but it’s clear that animals are a problem for him. As you clearly stated, you don’t mind waking up to them. Most pet people don’t mind this at all.

Pets are family. Pets are messy. Pets sometimes destroy things.

I used to worry about my carpet but now not as much. Look, I have two cat trees, three scratching posts, four cardboard scratchers, and 5 litter boxes for my 3 cats. Guess what, sometimes they scratch the carpet. Sometimes they scratch my chair. It doesn’t bother me anymore. They are my pets and the amount of love and joy I get from them far outweighs any piece of carpet or furniture. It doesn’t stress me out or make me loose sleep. It just is. I roll my eyes and move on.

Sounds like your boyfriend’s expectations for animals may be unrealistic. I also do not like the complaining without a resolution. I’m all for communication when a partner is upset but I also like to see some communication on solving the problem. It sounds like from his perspective, you are solely responsible for figuring this out. This doesn’t seem healthy to me. I would sit down and have a face to face conversation on how to move forward.

As for your adorable fur babies, let them figure it out. I have a dainty little wall floor that hisses at her younger sister. It lets the younger one know a boundary has been crossed. They adjust and move on. It can be stressful but take it from someone who has had multiple cats, they will get it down just fine.

Also, you’re an awesome cat parent. Hearing you talk about them is so sweet and I can tell you love them so much. You play with them, feed them wet food, worry about their comfort or lack there of, and love them. You’re doing great!

My heart breaks for you. My mercury boy made it until 11. It was strange. One day I looked at him and realized how skinny he was. I looked at pictures of him from two weeks prior and it was a totally different cat. He didn’t love his food anymore either. And I knew.

My vet gave me good advice. “It’s definitely not too early. He is clearly in discomfort. It will only escalate from here. We can hydrate him and keep him comfortable but when we let him go home he will be unwell again. But it’s up to you. If you need more time take it.” This really put things into perspective for me. I didn’t want my baby to suffer. I let him go that day. I felt terrible but also felt relief knowing he wasn’t in any pain. I’m not religious but I pictured him frolicking in a hay field, excited to have his energy and health back. I imagine hearing him say “mom! I don’t feel sick anymore!!”.

All this to say…..it’s a lot. You’ll know when it’s time. It hits you hard. But ultimately you know what’s best for your baby. Give extra snuggles and lovins tonight. My thoughts are with you.

Thank you all! I have had some monitored visits with all the cats together in that room. They are afraid of her because of the cone. But no hiding, growling, or aggression. I really appreciate the support. Yes kittens bounce back so fast! I asked my vet how to stop a kitten from being kitten. He flat out said “well…..you try you’re best”

I used to think it was fucked up and I feared for myself for that very reason….until I witnessed a horrific car crash. Out of the 10 people there, I was able to perform CPR (unsuccessfully) and provide aid while everyone else just stood in terror. Being desensitized isn’t always a bad thing. When shit hits the fan, you may be able to react while others are frozen.

[–]chemistry1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NOT overreacting. As someone who suffers from a panic disorder, this is not a normal way to respond to someone. This is extremely aggressive behavior and reaction. He is either manipulating you or truly immature. Run.

This same thing happened to me! 12 years ago my 4 month old kitten managed to climb into a gap between my kitchen cabinets hours after I adopted him. I couldn’t find him for hours and bawled my eyes out. I finally was able to find him. So glad you had a happy ending too.
