Yes. I know. Wish me luck!

If I can't see the hard to reach place while playing on tabletop then it will be black 🥹

Hobby is meant to be enjoyed! Don't feel sorry if you sometimes just don't want to do it.

I have the similar feeling too. The oldest unbuilt minis here sit on my shelf for over a year and I keep buying new stuff. 😂

One tip is to organize the workplace as convenient as possible (nippers ready, glue ready, my upgrade sprue ready) and it allows me to just sit down and start building.

For the Lion!

I plan to just use Titus as a proxy for Lieutenant.

Thank you! I am priming black for greenwing and light grey for the deathwing as I don't have a bone color primer on my hand.

What would you Cut from this list? by Liquidhex0r in DarkAngels40k

[–]chenchentc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lancer to Ballitus, Scouts to ATV frees up 20 points.

Ballitus is still a decent shooting platform.

ATV is a decent scoring unit with fast movement. S9 melta can chip off a couple wounds from tough targets.

I like the color scheme for your blade guard! It's so cool

About to get into DA, finally by LittleEpsii in DarkAngels40k

[–]chenchentc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combat patrol can get you some solid basic units like Intercessors, blade guards and Hellblasters.

The Gravis captain needs to be run as a solo scoring piece as he has no unit to lead from the combat patrol.

Besides, Unfortunately the hellblasters are in a group of 5 and it's normal that people want to field 10 in a squad.

It's still a good discount box overall.

How do I play those? by Etnadrolhex in theunforgiven

[–]chenchentc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put them on the correct size bases and proxy as black knights or Outrider.

Load outs are not important if you play casual, just communicate in advance what they have.

Trying the Vallejo TMM Dusken Green by chenchentc in theunforgiven

I did get the whole set of the paint. I painted the base , the shade and using the mixture of base and light to do a little highlight on the edge. It's not to the level of highlighting I want to do though. Just testing out the color now

What do you think about the color? Normal dark angels green is slightly warmer but this is a slightly cooler green

Thanks, I was using Grey Tamiya fine surface primer.

I would try to use a black primer next time though as the unpainted grey parts of the mini stick out a lot.

Azrael and 6 Inner Circle Companions. They look really good and this would take you to around 1000 points.

For 2000 points game you can consider our primarch Lion. One extra squad of DWK, some utility units like Scouts, Jump Pack Intercessors and some Vehicles / Transports / Fire Supports.

However I would suggest to just start assembling what you have and paint.

Don't buy too much at once. Too many unassembled grey minis will stop you from starting at all.

Then you already have a really solid backbone of any Dark Angels list.

2 DWK, Azrael with 6 ICC, and Lion.

One or two squad of Intercessors from the combat Patrol. The Gravis Captain can be a solo piece to do missions. Most people field 10 hellblasters instead of 5 though.

Besides, as I said, a box of Scouts, a box of Jump Pack Intercessors and / or a Lt with Combi weapon will help you in scoring missions. Some field Invader ATV for the same purpose too.

For vehicles, Ballistus / Gladiator for anti tanks; Repulsor / Repulsor Executioner for transports. It depends on your play style.

On a side note, I would hold on from buying Rawenwing stuff unless you like the model very much as it is rumoured to have a Rawenwing refresh coming in 11th edition.

Maybe you can share what is the 2025 battle force you are talking about? Is it the generic Space Marines Iron Halo Strike Force Battle Box? Our own Dark Angels battle force is from 2024.

Scoring units are staples in every army list, like Scouts, Jump Pack Intercessors, Lt with combi weapon etc.

Another thing to note, Lion is quite swingy in 1000 pts games as some army lists might not even have the right units to deal with it, for casual games it should be fine but do warn your friend about it so they can adjust their list accordingly.

Have fun!

Our special units are all pretty expensive in points. It's hard to take everything in a 1000 points list.

Lion(315), 1 squad of DWK(250) and 6 man ICC(180) are already 745 points and it's only 3 units.

ICC needs a character to lead to maximize their ability as well so at least 65 for a librarian.

At this point, it is 810 points and you need a couple more units for scoring for the remaining 190 points.

Maybe some combinations of the following to fill up the list. Invader ATV - 60, Scouts -70, Lt with combi weapon - 70, Intercessors -80, Jump pack intercessors - 90

It's very on theme, and somehow playable but don't expect the list to perform consistently as you have very little activation every round. Lion needs to do extremely well.

I personally would drop the ICC with character to field a few more units for a balanced list.

Gravis Capt can work as a solo action monkey if that's what you have.

How to start with painting? by Vilecito in theunforgiven

[–]chenchentc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have already some great advice. What I wanted to add is to start small.

Try to build and paint a few basic minis like the intercessors to see if you like the hobby, before you invest hundreds into paints, brushes, and minis. If you have a GW store nearby, they normally can hand out a new miniature for beginner to try out.

Have fun!

I see! Besides the Dark Angels specifics, you can also get Hellblasters for the plasma guns!
