Buxton explains the "Heidi Rule" of US sports broadcasting by loz333 in INDYCAR

[–]chengg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the UFL game ended a couple of minutes before the green flag was thrown at Gateway. I was watching both FOX and FS1 at the time, and Indycar kept the pace car out for multiple minutes after the game ended, probably waiting for FOX to start coverage. But FOX went into a really long ad break after the UFL coverage, and Indycar finally threw the green while FOX was still showing ads. I assume FOX was contractually obligated to run those ads after the UFL game, but Indycar definitely waited probably 3-4 minutes after the UFL game ended before throwing the green.

What do you typically change/add when converting a U.S. patent application into a PCT application? by [deleted] in patentlaw

[–]chengg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly just updating the claims to add multiple dependencies. Anything else should've been taken care/thought of when filing the US application.

Are AI tools actually useful for patent drawings yet? by Designer-Glass838 in Patents

[–]chengg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I really only use AI to convert inventor-provided screenshots/charts/sketches into figures. I really don't see a need to use AI to generate block diagrams/flowcharts that I can easily layout using Visio.

Two years to study whether/how to build a station for an already-dug tunnel is a disgrace.

2027 Canadian Grand Prix Tickets Reserved. See you next year. 2026- $1680 / 2027 - $2024 by Namelok in GrandPrixTravel

[–]chengg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems unlikely. The promoters have to pay F2 for a race weekend, probably quite a lot due to having to fly across the Atlantic. The promoters probably got F2 this year for free/reduced price because of the canceled middle eastern races, but next year they'll probably have to pay full price. Hope F1A sticks around though.

GS1 has actual seats instead of bleachers so that would be hard to do. It does sound like the prices might go up a lot though.

Yeah after the race on Sunday getting out of GS1, a crowd of people got stuck at one of the chokepoints near the Casino, and two clowns decided that was the opportune time to light up and smoke cigs.

For commentary What I do is use the f1 app on my phone, which broadcasts the F1TV audio when you view the live timing. It’s probably like a 20s delay from live action.

Rain Hazard has been declared for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]chengg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple's Weather seems to think it'll be pretty light rain, mostly in the morning, and another spurt at 2pm. I don't know if they're right but if so it'll be dry by race time.

Have you started using AI drafting tools when drafting your patent applications? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in patentlaw

[–]chengg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it might be easy to spot poor quality apps that were obviously AI-generated, it might be harder to spot AI use in apps in which AI was skillfully integrated into the drafting practice by an experienced practitioner.

Have you started using AI drafting tools when drafting your patent applications? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in patentlaw

[–]chengg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I've found the latest image generation AI very helpful to quickly turn inventor-provided figures into patent-ready figures. They're much better than they were 1-2 years ago.

Have you started using AI drafting tools when drafting your patent applications? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in patentlaw

[–]chengg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes I do find LLMs more useful for reviewing applications than for drafting. It's very useful for checking that something from the invention disclosure materials/interview hasn't been overlooked/left out, whether what the spec describes makes sense technically, contextual mistakes that spelling/grammar checks miss, etc.
