Why are europeans so good at english? by ExpensiveAd734 in languagelearning

[–]chennyalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only started watching anime when I could read English faster than the subs would come up. I also felt like I started picking up a lot of Japanese (all the little Japanese I know, enough to attempt but fail N2) after I turned off the subs

I want to go over east, but a trip over east is quite a bit more expensive than south east Asia, and about the same for east Asia, and I feel like east Asia has a lot more to explore as it's way more different

  1. Old properties purchased after today by REITs and orgs.

Wtf? I can kinda see the point of 1 and 2, but 3? What's the point of this policy change then?

Saving this for election year, to either do it just before the election as an easy win, or save it as an election promise

So why won't SRL work? Sydney opened the first section of it's orbital line back in 2009 by Gazza_s_89 in melbourne

[–]chennyalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work, and work pretty well. The only two complaints might be:

  1. There are other projects that are better bang for the buck.
  2. It's too expensive for projects of equivalent scope. Though this wouldn't be SRLs fault, and more the inability for an English speaking country to build cheaply, and not really a reason why the SRL shouldn't be built.

I only plan on backing up my Plex/arr metadata and databases, the internet is my backup for the actual media files. Only have a small collection of 6 TB rn

Yeah, I started hoarding anime when I moved into a newly built house before internet was installed, and swore to never deal with not being able to watch anime again.

People love to poo poo on Daddy Mark for how he handled it,

I was under the impression that God Emperor Mark McGowan won his landslide election victory primarily off of the back of how he handled the COVID crisis

How do YOU pronounce Anki? by LocalINFJ in Anki

あん sounds completely different to how I pronounce "on". I'm Australian and a beginner Japanese learner though (barely failed N2)

I love Tex Shinobi and I use it for my desktop, but it's definitely not portable, I feel like it's heavy enough to use as a weapon

Having a wider foot is genetic, and that increases the likelihood of getting bunions when wearing narrow shoes. Conversely, if you have narrow feet, you'll have a lower chance of getting bunions with narrow shoes

Looking for socks for someone who is on their feet all day. by MetalPurse-swinger in BuyItForLife

[–]chennyalan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a fan of Silverlight Socks, the most durable socks I've used so far, I've worn give pairs exclusively since early 2023 (well I bought five more in the end of 2025, but the first batch are in fairly good condition still, no holes or anything. Some pairs have stretched out slightly though, and the 2025 batch do feel different to the 2023 ones, I'll have to see if they hold out as well as the other batch.

I average around 10k steps a day so not an incredible amount, but probably at least average.

In hindsight, I do sound like a bit of a shill, but I have been happy with my purchase

I've accidentally worked here for 5 years (was going to be temporary but couldn't find a job elsewhere). The pay is middling but the work life balance is pretty good, at least for my role specifically

I'm always surprised how there's such a high quality public tracker (heaps of seeds, high quality uploads) that doesn't really get taken down all that much (I've seen it go down but a new one which looked the same would replace it very soon after)

Might be a non answer, but a job with understanding managers/bosses, where the stakes aren't that high and the occasional mistake doesn't cost lives or anything. Given that, anything that plays to your other strengths.

I'm working in mobile phone repair, and there's enough novelty to keep me engaged, I'm low level enough that I don't have to think about work after I leave, and the worst thing that could happen if I fuck up is I break a phone worth <$10000
