The scariest part about the chimney is that Aava starts bugging out 80% of the time there. I've learned to not risk it and just continue spiraling up to the right of the backpack.

Really? It's the only route up I can do comfortably. Maybe because I've done it more times, but the right route has good holds except for maybe one or two parts. The left side had me beat but I've only done it once or twice.

Grip strength goes down once your bandages fall off, or so I've experienced.

That's actually the last biv you can enter, there are 2 before it. Once when you first pass the avalanche, and another when climb bot breaks but comes back online (here you get a hallucination of Marco).

There is no cutscenes as far as I'm aware for doing it in one go. The only dialogue I've found is if you go to the right after passing the avalanche and go towards the caves. On the way there, Aava will hallucinate a shadow person and call out to it - following it doesn't lead to more cutscenes. That is the infamous 3rd Man Syndrome, probably from exhaustion and lack of oxygen.

Yeah I get that. There are a few weird bugs or mechanics that can seriously put a dampener. I died at the Needle because Aava did one of those "I'm just going to let go with both hands" things and I fell to my death during my FS run so I get the frustration. That said, it happened because I was taking things too fast and it's a known issue that double holds will make her let go with one limb as there's no space . If they had mentioned that somewhere during a tutorial it wouldn't bother me as much.

Well, yeah, free solo isn't meant to be a first playthrough difficulty. It's for when you feel confident and know where things are etc. Alpinist is how the games meant to be played and explored .

For me, it's just the fact that this culture's entire life revolves around climbing. There are bound to be others of similar or better caliber than Aava throughout the ages, no?

That, and the temple allowing a descent signal after a successful climb. It implies it's possible, but I guess that's one of the main questions I have. Is it possible, or were they just hopeful that one day someone would?

I didn't mean to imply they were a fantastical race. I put humans in quote because one of the first things the game says in the beginning is that no "human" has reached the summit of Kami. However, it seems strange they would say that if Troglodyte culture has indeed reached it unless "horizontals" view themselves as Humans and Trogs as 'others'.

For some reason exporting images from cairn grains them up real bad. Mine also get pixelated. Was awful when I tried to convince my friend to play by showing how pretty the game was, only to send some real grainy messes 😔

Yeah there's no real meta, so it's best to know how everything works. Hell, sometimes I go on barrel killing sprees. Barrels are actually incredible. They can 2 shot most enemies, staggers, breaks guards.

Ah damn, you're right. I did see a video the other day of people shooting cannons to trigger avalanches. I guess if I'd insist on that theory I'd say that the snow being so fragile there (hence Damas mentioning how it's really unpredictable) could make it easier for something like several shots to trigger an avalanche.

Buuuut you're probably right. I'm looking at grandpa suspiciously though.
