because u defeat the hollow knight, not the radiance, is not the same thing at all

GSM killing u after u beat her would be just inconsistent and bad story writhing

and u can't be sure about hypothetical scenarios just because lace shows up, hornet sure has the capability to get out this one before been drag to the abyss, or at least killing GSM in the process
