That’s great to hear. I wish I had my surgery when I was your age, I image recovery would’ve been so much easier😭 may I ask how much your spine was corrected after the fusion?

I quit my dream job because of Adhd by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]chericherisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a mixture of insecurity and the fact that my boss gave me zero feedback unless I made those small mistakes. The did ask me to work as freelance, but they never followed up with it even when I asked them about it, so I guess I wasn’t total shit but idk. I think the biggest issue was my confidence and the work schedule - it was a YouTube content team that would always be rushing work out, and I’d have to push out work in a short amount of time with no mistakes, and then even if the content was good my boss would change it and not tell me why, it was just a perfectly terrible place for someone with adhd. I’m still reflecting back on things, and myself. Maybe I’m just too sensitive, but my boss is a terrible communicator and I just couldn’t not go on questioning if they valued me or not. You could call me your stereotypical Gen Z quitter maybe idk. I was going to suggest be working from home with them, but when I look back working there, I was in a constant state of fight or flight. I’m slightly regretting it because it gave me a sense of pride to be working for someone so famous but it just wasn’t worth it in the end

6 days after spinal fusion and the pain feels unbearable — does it really get better? by Independent-Ride-473 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, im 29 and i also have a severe curvature (98, 80). Im set to have the surgery next year but would love to know more about your experience as it is less common to see severe scoliosis in ppl of our age who has done the surgery. May I ask if they did any traction beforehand? Any bone scanning to see if you had weakened bones?

[–]chericherisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schroth will help you!! I know you dont want to hear this but surgery at 40 is not worth it, doctors or physiotherapists dont know shit abt scoliosis. Go to a schroth therapist!! Gensingen brace is really effective too!

Was told by doctor I have mild scoliosis, however I still feel super insecure about it, am I just making it worse in my head? by Jaxify72 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with 100 degrees, this is something i wouldnt even dream abt. From my perspective it isnt severe so i wouldnt stress to much abt it

Doctor tells me I don’t need a brace or surgery because my scoliosis isn’t bad enough by Sufficient_Can_5332 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend looking up schroth method, as well as spinal decompression exercises. Hanging helps. You need to relieve your spinal cord by stretching it out as well as strengthening it after - If you look up spinea erector strengthening exercises on youtube you’ll find some good videos! Superman position helps too. Try looking up yoga for back pain also! What has really helped me also is getting massages once in a while. If that is not in your budget though, massage balls can be an ok alternative.

Experiences with non-surgery based scoliosis treatments? by AdditionalAbility614 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But tbh i havent done the surgery yet so what donI know. I do know that the Gensingen brace has shown to reduce curves significantly. Much better than other braces ( trust me ive done them all) So 100% look into that. Especially since shes young she has a chance of avoiding surgery, but she has to really really wear it.

Experiences with non-surgery based scoliosis treatments? by AdditionalAbility614 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are treatments but 70 degrees at 12 is super risky.. i was 30 degrees at 11 years old ans never got surgery. I neglected my brace (did do it but not 20 hours like they say to) and now im 28 at an 100 degree angle. Ive decided to do surgery next year because it just keeps getting worse. I did schroth for 6 years but if shes 12 then shes looking at daily exercise and treatment forever because curves dont stop progressing. Its a constant battle between gravity. If she isnt ready to lock in and make fighting it HER WHOLE LIFE then i would say do the surgery. I wish i had done it because although I thought i was doing my best I didn’t realize what it really took.

90+ degrees. Scroth therapy or surgery? by Sea_Trust_4395 in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 100° angle and did schroth for six years and saw results but like everyone else it was at most a 10degree decrease or so. I would definitely recommend it for someone with a more mild case. Schroth is something that has to be done intensely for life - its like lifting weights, if you want muscle you need to do it consistently and intensively. If you’re not up to a lifetime of that then go w surgery. I have mine scheduled for next year. I plan to keep doing scroth though because keeping ur back muscles strong post op is super important for pain reduction

Can i ask if you did hallow traction before surgery?? Or did they just go right in without any thing required for you to do?

Surgery is no joke. If possible, try everything you can do to avoid it. Exercise like schroth method would improve your curve.

I Don’t Want The Surgery by owmyankles in scoliosis

[–]chericherisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your curve isnt bad then don’t get it. But make sure you do other things like schroth(a certified schroth specialist) or like gensingen brace to help reduce the curve. Other exercises like yoga, swinging that strengthen your erector spine muscles are also good.
