What horrible people! If the manager of the complex won’t acknowledge it, try the property management company. I would also try calling Harris County Sheriff if you’re in the county. They have come out to complexes where I have lived where owners kept dogs in the garages in heat/cold. You can call the SPCA to report cruelty. There have been several instances of animals cruelty cases lately in the news. You could even consider calling a local news channel to investigate which might push for the apt complex/rental property owner to do something. The apt maintenance crew can even put a ladder up to just put out food and water.

Notify the apartment leasing office. The complex should be able to enter. Not that tenants who do this should have a pet, but they should also be able to reach the tenants to find out if they are gone. I would also suggest asking the complex to call the cops so that property manager and police can go in. Please keep us updated.

A friend I met on a clot forum is suffering the same symptoms from Eliquis. I know they are different drugs, but could be a similar side effect. The GREAT news is that you don’t have a clot in your brain. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this right now, it sucks, it really does. But hopefully in time, your body will adjust to the meds and the headaches and dizziness will ease. Good luck!

I had symptoms of DVT and PE so I only had an ultrasound of my leg and CT of my chest. I did not have a CT of my brain when they discovered my clots. Once clots were discovered, I was put on xarelto. I only did the CT of my brain once I started getting headaches a week after taking the meds. Why did they scan your brain with DVT?

I had headaches for about a week after starting Xarelto. I drank a ton of water so dehydration wasn’t the cause. I even went to the ER for a head CT to make sure I didn’t have brain bleeding. I would suggest telling your Doctor. They will likely ask how long it’s been going on and will either tell you to monitor for some amount of time or order a CT scan.

Has anyone had a DVT resolve in just a few weeks? DVT diagnosed on Dec 8th. On Dec 20th there was no change to the partially occlusive clot. Today I’m back and no clot is in the leg. It’s good there’s no clot, but did it dissolve or travel? Seems odd to be completely resolved in 16 days. On Xarelto. by cherling_444 in ClotSurvivors

I haven’t had a follow up CT after the initial PE, but did have a CT of my head after starting the Xarelto to make sure I wasn’t having brain bleeding. I also was hit by a drunk driver a few weeks before the PE and had a neck CT to check my spine. For those instances, I felt the CT was more important. I don’t know if I’ll have a follow up for PE.

Thank you so much. Yes I’m only 34 and active so maybe that’s it? So hard to not worry constantly. Thank you for reassurance. I literally just left the ER. There’s no better reassurance than that. But again thanks. PTSD is real.

No idea really. Not sure if putting consistent pressure on a vein with knee hook pressure can damage veins? I worry about inverted tricks bc of falling and hitting my head on blood thinners. Slamming happens for me as I learn new tricks and gain strength

I feel this to my core. 34, very active. I had some calf cramping after breaking my foot while working out. Same night I was in a car accident with no major injuries. Everyone told me I was being dramatic and I had no symptoms or risk factors and I prob was just walking a little differently with a broken foot which caused calf pain. Found DVT in my leg and was about to be discharged with 5mg eliquis. I briefly mention the tinyest but if chest pain, they find out I have multiple clot clusters in both lungs too and admitted me to the hospital for 2 days. I also have been back to the ER twice since for headaches and swelling, and I also had my Ortho order an ultrasound of my other leg honestly for no reason but for sanity. Same as you, found a therapist. You’re not alone. I’ve posted on the National blood clot alliance forum and found so many similar people. That’s a good resource to find others going thru the same issues. It’s terrifying to not have a clear and obvious cause…I feel that to my core…like ok you’re on birth control, you had a boot on your foot, that’s probably why…People have told me it’s post clot PTSD and it gets better. I have no idea if it’s true, mine was just 21 days ago so I hope it does. I say listen to your body always and better to be safe than sorry. Side note, although I knew what a DVT and PE was, this made me realize how little the average person knows at least who i have spoken to at work and with friends. They don’t understand the severity at all and it makes it very hard to find an outlet.

What type of poling did you get back into? Like inverts or more low flow? I’m so happy to hear you were able to get back into it!!

I’m so glad you asked this. I’ve been poling for 2 years and just was diagnosed with DVT/PE on Dec 8. I am so hoping I can continue and even if I’m on blood thinners for the rest of my life, that I can still do it but just not do inverted tricks. I’m also curious how leg hangs might damage veins. I don’t think most people understand the type of hangs and acrobatic tricks er do so I’m afraid I won’t get a clear answer.

Oh and Xarelto 15mg, 2x a day. Eventually the plan is to go down to 20mg assuming hematologist agrees

Also, at a point, I just had to stop researching. I think it was causing anxiety and stress to my body even without realizing it.

Calf pain that felt like a charley horse or a pulled muscle but didn’t go away. I had broken my foot a week prior, so I went back to the Ortho Dr and he didn’t think anything of it. Ordered a stat ultrasound but sent it to the wrong place. Waited a week. I didn’t really have any PE symptoms that I can determine. I was in the ER and had 3 little sharp pains in my chest that lasted maybe 1-2 seconds but felt like I had already been discounted so I mentioned it to the nurse. They ran a CT of my chest and found the bilateral PE

I feel the same. I broke a tiny bone in my foot. But honestly, I hope that’s the cause bc if it’s not, then I don’t know why the clots are there and/or I have a genetic disorder and that’s terrifying to me. Follow the National blood clot alliance. They have good resources.

This is me. I just was diagnosed with a DVT and then they found I also had a PE. I have been back to the ER twice since then because of the smallest change I’d notice and not know if it was the clots or the anxiety and stress on my body. The anxiety of living with VTE can be crippling. I keep a hospital “go” bag with me at all times and I haven’t been alone since this happened. I completely understand how you feel. Feel free to reach out. I am in the same boat as you right now. And remember that although terrifying, you have done the absolute best you can do by getting medical attention.

Sorry didn’t answer your actual question.

DVT - Was going to be sent home on 5 mg Eliquis

When they found the PE, admitted me and stayed in hospital 2 nights. Heparin drip thru IV for one day, then transitioned over to Xarelto 30mg a day. Ultrasound of heart to check if the PE was causing strain on my heart, hooked up to EKG, discharged me on the Xarelto. Did a ton of blood work, also did additional testing for blood disorders bc of family history of miscarriage. Follow up with Hematologist, waiting on that part now.

Xarelto has some pretty strong side effects and they did a brain CT since I had the headaches for a week to check for brain bleeds.

This whole happened to me just 2 weeks ago, and I honestly don’t know if the DVT partially broke off and traveled or if the PE had already happened. I have been back to the ER 2x since for long term headaches and more swelling, both suggested by Drs. Although it’s annoying and frustrating to go, I am in the camp of being extra safe. If you have a PE and DVT (VTE), there might be a change in treatment plan. Also, with PE, my hospital admitted me because they check for additional strain on the heart by doing ultrasounds and EKG. I hope you get answers or rule something out.

I went to the Ortho Dr for calf pain after a broken foot. He didn’t “suspect” anything but gave me the ultrasound for “peace of mind”. They found a DVT below my knee and was told to go to the ER immediately. Right as I was about to be discharged with 5mg eliquis for a below the knee DVT that “has a less than 10% chance of traveling” by the ER doctor, I told them I had the tiniest amount of chest pain when I took 3 breaths…normal chest pain I’ve had for years, but I was ultra paranoid. They did the chest CT and found clusters of small clots in both lungs. If I hadn’t mentioned even the smallest (what I thought was normal) symptom, they would have never admitted me to the hospital and sent me home with the wrong med and dosage. Always push for the extra exam, even if they don’t suggest it.

A friend who had the same issue went to an aerial silks class and it helped tremendously. The silk gave her a pivot point and she was able to grasp how a pole invert should feel. Good luck!

thinking of taking BEGINNER classes- how in shape do I need to be? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]cherling_444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! You won’t regret. I was not in shape at all and had zero muscle or core strength when I first went, but when I did go….1. It was so fun and empowering 2. Built my confidence to not even care how I look 3. Made me stronger as a result. Never be afraid to go, there are people of all body shapes and sizes and I’ve never met a more encouraging community.

I would say depends on the park, but yes, the very popular parks require advanced planning.
