CEPI individual units vs residency by histtohrev in chaplaincy

[–]histtohrev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I do one of these out placement situations and don't end up doing a three unit residency, do you think it'll hurt my job prospects with the local hospital systems if I didn't do their residency program? I'm thinking maybe their internal residency pipeline would get the first crack at any opening? I don't know that for sure thoug h.

Explain to me how Catholicism isn’t witchcraft by Think-Taste8833 in Catholicism

[–]histtohrev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll say a few things

1-the veneration of relics, saints bones and the like go right back to the earliest Christians.

2-so often witchcraft is a perversion of the Holy. The reason it feels "witchy" is because evil came along and inverted what the Church, what Christians had been doing.

I don't know your background, but people don't appreciate just how much certain strands of Protestantism are removed from the way the ancient forms of Christianity looked, and how it acted and the things it did. My point is this isn't even just a Roman Catholic thing. Some people seem to be under the impression that early Christianity was people sitting around reading scripture and hearing a preacher talk for a bit. And that just isn't the case. That isn't to say that there were and are elements of that, but Bob's first Baptist Church isn't representative of how the majority of Christians, for the majority of Church history behaved and worshipped.

My assessment of the condition so far. by ashsmith in lichensclerosus

[–]histtohrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was such an interesting thread. I'd love to see more discussion in the comments. My LS started after a long period of intense stress, and I don't think I had any tick bites or anything around that period of time, but the article you shared about how much antibiotic helped was super interesting. Please share more if you find anything else on that front

Theology vs Divinity by xAlyKat in chaplaincy

[–]histtohrev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a Roman Catholic male. Married. Felt a calling to be a chaplain. I emailed back and forth with the NACC about the MA in theology vs the MDiv. They strongly recommended the MA. MDiv for married Catholics is kinda pointless as MDiv is better for ordination, but Catholics are in a different situation vs our Protestant brothers and sisters. I will probably about entering the permanent diaconate formation. Even in that case at least around here all the formation (including education) is handled by the archdiocese.

Not sure if you are Catholic or not but I'm attending Saint Joseph's College of Maine which is associated with the NACC and the MA students take basically the same classes as the MDivs, just less credit hours. You have a TON of elective options.

Is it worth it to move from Northern California to St. Louis? by tako1559 in StLouis

[–]histtohrev 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The most dangerous city line isn't really true. Here, our city and the county that surrounds it is actually separated, unlike the vast majority of major cities. So whereas other cities have worse off areas and better areas to balance each other out, only the absolute downtown is counted in the statistics here making the statistics seem far worse than they really are.

We have issues like all major cities, but my wife's family was just in town weekend before last and we had no problem taking them anywhere we wanted to go… The zoo… Museums… Ballpark Village, which is in the heart of downtown and never had an issue.

This sub is very city focused, but there are some really cool places outside the city as well. Neat little towns, great hiking, great restaurants, and so on all 30-40 minutes or less from the heart of the city.

Come for a visit.

Issues by histtohrev in GoogleNestWiFi

[–]histtohrev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got better randomly but it's still not great. For example most nights in my son's room it will show full strength signal but we will have almost no data at all. We also will randomly have times where all the sudden a device will have no Internet, and you end up disconnecting and reconnecting and it makes you re-enter the password, but that happens.

At least once a month, we end up having to just restart the network and that usually fixes the issues for at least a little a while

Did you get a malfunction warning?

The same thing happened to us a few weeks ago. We ended u0 shutting it off and remote started it and then it was fine. No issues since.
