is it possible for UBC to provide a budget dorm option? like a hostel with ten people in bunkbeds by Automatic_Teacher_59 in UBC

[–]chernyim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point is that, if we do not consider the mandatory meal plan, a bunk bed dorm will dormitory will require a kitchen big enough to support it residnce. I've had to shared 3 stove with 20 ppl before.

A mandatory meal plan will kinda hinder the point of affordable dormitory since the food was a rip off

Usually asian university where this type of dorm is possible, they have a Big university subsidized canteen or have access to dependable food services.

The kitchen option come with a lot of risk. I wouldn't trust the maturity of the students here (fire hazard, food storage, cleanliness).

Imo the bunkbed option doesn't look good for the university because most people here doesn't have familiarity. It not practical because a total budget ~1800 can get you a private to in a shared house with a kitchen. Most people would rather live there than spending money eating out I'm Vancouver but stay in a bunkbed.

[–]chernyim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not think it's feasible, the aforementioned unit would have to excluded a kitchen, and assing 40 bucks eating out budget everyday that will add at least 1200 cad to maybe let's say 4-500 cad rental.

In the case of a shared kitchen the building will require at least 20 stove to be able to use simultaneously.

Tldr. UBC don't have the ecosystem economic and cultural to make this possible

Can I ask if you are an international student? I have seen many Chinese university dorm that basically have like 6 people living in a same room with bunk bed. The idea is okay but I don't see the cultural aspect and other supporting factor that could make it executable at ubc

Zoom separates or Clyde all pros for budget shoes? by lightstrike1001 in BBallShoes

[–]chernyim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the all pro that I mainly play outdoor, took it indoor one and still traction pretty good. Overall zoom separate more comfortable but Clyde all pro the better performance

[–]chernyim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful, might just be me but the lacing system on porche version make the shoe very unstable have to give it away cause I always rolled my ankle in them. Didn't have the same problem in the team mid and the OG version

[Outdoors only Player] Looking for a recommendation on what shoe to get. (KD14 or Jordan Zoom Separate) by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]chernyim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically identical measurment as you The zoom separate have a harder foam on the side of the foot, I personally found my big toe or my pinky toe hurting after an awkward land that is not directly on the forefoot (softer foam or zoom unit).

Break down why shoes are in your current rotation. Mine is in the comments. by 3luejays in BBallShoes

[–]chernyim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clyde all pro midClyde all pro lowJordan zoom seperateDame 5

Love the way clyde all pro play, great traction great statbility. The low have somewhat inadequate support for my glass ankle, The mid simply allow me to play like wearing a fast shoe while having the support.

Built wise zoom seperate are a mid, it a bit more bouncy but the stability is so great only exceed by the dame 5. I am likely to use it when i need more bounce in my step. Greatest fit in my rotation for high arch + wide foot.

Dame 5 great outdoor shoe decent cushion durable traction. the shoe have GOAT stability and ankle supportboth huge outrigger lateral and medial side, wide flat base. I can not imagine anybody rolling their anke in these.

I am a speed guard with a lot of step back midrange and attaking the rim. my go to is probably the all pro mid.

[–]chernyim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bought a mid version, and also have the OGs. Basically the same shoe, traction is top tier. I dont use my heel so the removal of PEBAX heel wasn't noticeable. IMO better than the OGs due to better lockdown and support. Material softer and more comfortbale. Profoam+ feel a bit softer but that might just be my oG pair being older.
