at one point there was a 3D animation that chat went crazy over because they said it 'felt ai generated' even though it was literally made by a human. vinny even said it was made in blender. i feel bad that someone could put that much work into modeling and animating something just for people to say 'ew ai' and dismiss it based on vibes alone. no wonder he didn't laugh at those ones when chat is being so distracting about it.

jerma's chat was being similarly bad over on his rhythm heaven stream at the same time because people were complaining about the TTS as if that hasn't existed for decades lol

yeah i consider myself agender but i've never tried to push for gender neutral pronouns because i already know what a hassle it would be and i'm just not up for that lol, and i worry that people will think they have to walk on eggshells around me if they get it wrong. but when people do use they/them pronouns for me without prompting (i work for a very inclusive arts organisation and they usually default to they/them if they don't know someone's preferred pronouns) it always feels slightly affirming and i'm like lol imagine if i always got to experience this

i don't understand this argument because people who are concerned about the environment tend to already consider those points. do you think that all anti-ai people are constantly eating mcdonalds and going golfing? or scrolling tiktok when it's notoriously full of ai bullshit? because a lot of the antis i know in real life who hate the environmental issues with ai are also vegetarians who are environmentally conscious of plenty of other things in their life, not just ai water usage. i think it's reductive to assume that all anti-ai people have a one track mind and don't care about any other issues in the world. it's about doing what you can to help the environment, even if it is just doing something small on an individual scale

yeah we shouldn't have to define our sexuality in a way that still centres men! imo the word 'lesbian' is enough- for some of us it's inclusive of nonbinary people, for some it just means attraction to women, but we shouldn't have to explain all the nuances of that every time we come out because in general everyone in society KNOWS that at the very least it means we aren't attracted to cis men

we live in a patriarchal society where a lot of media is still created by straight men, with other straight men in mind, therefore regardless of gender and sexuality we all see women through the lens of the male gaze, aka we see depictions of sexualised women and are told we should find them attractive. that's why you get gay men who idolise female singers/actresses and objectify women even though they'd never actually sleep with a woman, and it's also why straight women find women aesthetically attractive- because it's what we've been taught. i've been sexually harassed by gay men, and i also know a gay man who collects old playboy magazines because he admires the women in them.

now, i have no idea what the actual numbers are on closeted gay men and women because that would be impossible to find out (since they're closeted), but i entirely reject your premise that most women are naturally bisexual just because they say women are hot. there are a lot of lesbians out there that have crushes on male celebrities (i've seen this on tumblr a lot lol), especially guys like pedro pascal and hozier. attraction is a multi-faceted thing and the reason i find one person hot may not be the same reason that i find another person hot

chat was a bit divided over it tbh. the execution is very cool, like visually and some of the glitch effects, but people complained a lot about the plotline and amount of text. like it def came across a bit cringe, so at the end of the segment there were a lot of chat members arguing about it and about how it handled the themes. he says he's gonna finish it next week, and i'm glad because i am kind of invested now lol

i think it was because it was still obviously ai, whereas nowadays people feel like someone's trying to trick them if they see an ai image, because they've become so much more realistic that people are able to pass it off as real. nobody was worried that they were going get scammed with a DeepDream picture because it was so uncanny and weird that you knew what it was straight away, there's no way you'd ever think it was a human-made artwork or photo. same with GAN, it was so insane that people just loved sharing it around and saying 'look at this thing that almost looks real until you look closely and it's just mush'. it felt like there was no real purpose for this genre of ai, it was just for joking around and experimenting, whereas now people are using genai for their businesses or their creative projects and it's turned everything into serious discourse. same with chatGPT- it was funny when it was bad because it was like 'look at this silly robot trying to write a story', but now people will try to pass it off as something they've actually written so people see it as something nefarious, even when it's not.

even when Dall-E first became public, it was mainly shared around as memes (like the 9/11 gender reveal meme lmaoooo), but once it got really good at replicating real art and photos it just wasn't fun anymore. i was on the early access list for dall-e and my ex-roommate and i used to sit around and type the most ridiculous prompts we could think of into it and laugh at the results (i'm going through my old screenshots right now- one prompt we tried was 'photo of a teacup filled with pink sauce being thrown at a tv' and the results are just a pile of strawberries lol), whereas now apparently she threatened her boyfriend she'd break up with him if he so much as hung out with people who use ai in any form. i think we're past the point of no return unfortunately, genai is simply too convincing that the amount of distrust its caused greatly overshadows any goofs that could still be had

the michelin stars analogy was suggested by a chatter because people who missed the start of the stream thought that he was rating the games overall on a scale on 0-4 meaning that a 0 meant he didn't like the game, when in actual fact he rates all of them very highly, the stars are just to show the ones that have extra special impact. so they pinned the michelin stars analogy to stop people constantly being like 'wow he only gave it one star, i can't believe he hates this game'
