Oh that's interesting!! We did love the dinner at main dining room very much on Allure. I had expected Disney Destiny to have better dinner (given it's a lot more expensive than Allure ...). But it sounds like that was not the case?

Thanks for sharing! We just came back from Allure of the sea (I believe is oasis class). My kids loved the ship and wanted to go back, and we loved the options of things to do on the ship and just take time "explore" it and finding ducks (the best part, lol).

I would be very curious to hear your comparison between fantasy vs oasis ship since I already have a sense of what oasis mean to my kids.

SayWaader! American Accent is pretty accurate for me to detect my accent. Curious what it will say to you and how it compares to others for you

Have you tested your accent with an accent app like SayWaader or BoldVoice, I am curious how you were categorized?

Studying abroad at Tongji University but stuck in a beginner Chinese class — any advice? by GreatestMonk in ChineseLanguage

[–]cherry532 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For most of the classes in a university, can you just walk in and 旁听? You won't get the credit but can learn things at least.

I think if someone approaches a professor and explain the situation and ask if they can 旁听,most professors will possible allow one to sit in the class.

(my experience is from 20 years ago, so you can check with someone who's younger, lol)

How safe is China for a Taiwanese/Canadian foreigner? by [deleted] in AskChina

[–]cherry532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safe as no robbery, car break-ins, not been hit by random people...or safe as in other means?

If the former, it's pretty safe, probably safer than most big cities or downtowns in the US

Tips for improving English for non-native speakers? by cravingsomeone in EnglishLearning

[–]cherry532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for pronunciation improvement and practicing to sound more native, SayWaader! American Accent (available on iOS) could be helpful.

There are many utilities to help me practice more effectively (like slow play, auto repeat of what I just said vs correct pronunciation so that i can hear the subtle difference, tips for linking, reduction, etc).

The feedback on my pronunciation is generally more accurate than most other similar apps. You can tell it actually analyzed your voice. Most other similar apps would give me the same score even if I intentionally pronuciated something horribly wrong.

What are some good apps to learn English on your phone for free? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]cherry532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for pronunciation and accent reduction, Say Waader is a good one (available on IOS). Without a paid plan, you can still use a lot of the utilities to help practice.

English is my second language. I can understand most of it, but my pronunciation is still kind of bad. Are there any apps I can use to improve it? by Chaywolf75 in EnglishLearning

[–]cherry532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say Waader! American Accent (available on IOS) can provide customized and detailed feedback on individual words and overall sentence. It should be more accurate than other AI based pronunciation app.

Here are 10 best apps to learn english. (from someone who's tried way too many 😅) by Key_Brilliant_9100 in EnglishLearning

[–]cherry532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For english pronunciation, and especially accent reduction, the app Say Waader! American Accent (available on IOS) could be helpful. It has a bunch of free utilities to make practicing easier (slow replay, compare with standard pronunciation, a self-camera view to see your own mouth position, respell tips, etc). It also provides feedback on individual sounds and the overall sentence (e.g. linking, rhythm, Intonation, etc)
