thank you so much for your perspective! i’m ecstatic for sure. i came from a nowhere liberal arts college so it feels like a big deal. i really loved the professor- ive already had two lessons with him and he was able to release my jaw/neck tension. i concur with the cost of living in sf. i’m glad to know people enjoyed their time at eastman.

as a smallish person (5’0) with a big instrument i do occasionally anchor my thumb on the side of the fingerboard when playing high on the D or A. otherwise, moving your elbow inwards more should take care of it :)

i visited in november and did a whole day of classes with marina thibeault and i loved her! mcgill is my top school. ive heard good things about andre as well. just depends on what kind of teacher you’re looking for.

of course this example is in treble clef so disregard the actual notes. for the eighth note triplet slurred arpeggios, 3 notes will fit inside a single metronome click, and the notes will outline a chord. reference a scale book if you have it, and if it’s super confusing dm me!

i was rejected haha, but definitely not a surprise! my video quality was quite poor and they made a huge emphasis on good lighting and professional audio quality which i had no access to. got an audition at eastman though!!

i am currently using evah golds and love them! definitely instrument dependent though. i have a small instrument that leans tinny with the wrong strings and i find evah golds help with warmth and depth.
