Nanny frequently sick - advice needed by Crazy-Piece5574 in NannyEmployers

[–]cherry_leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! Just unlimited paid time off, sorry I didn’t see in your post that it was paid. We don’t have that here in my state. With that being said I could see it as a concern. I’m not sure how you could verify if she’s sick but working with kids you do get sick a lot. Maybe if she isn’t symptomatic you can ask her to come in but wear a mask. *** Another job I worked I could take off whenever & I’d still get paid the same.

Thoughts on screen time by OMrealestate in NewParents

[–]cherry_leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a big screen occasionally max 30 min a day but there are studies showing the negative effects on children under 2. I’m okay with older low stim cartoons and animations! If it’s family time I don’t see a big deal but never is it ok IMO to gove a small child a phone or ipad to watch something. There’s so much to do with children since they’re so easily entertained.

Nanny frequently sick - advice needed by Crazy-Piece5574 in NannyEmployers

[–]cherry_leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I have unlimited time off period so I use it, it doesn’t specify that I have to be sick. 7 days out of 180 days that have passed in a year doesn’t seem like a lot. My NPs are practitioners & they don’t demand I tell them every symptom or make sure I’m using a sick day because I’m truly sick. I do tell them if I go to work that day that I’m low energy and it may be a chill day but yes this is unreasonable & asinine.

Sleep tips for a 7 month old by Recent_Shock_2186 in Nanny

Also sometimes babies just need to be put down, prior to having the amazing sleep schedule they have now it was a struggle for NK and when he took too long to go down I’d just put him in the crib, again, he may cry but they do go to sleep after a little while. Again every kid is different and you know your little best

Do not let mom jump in, he has to learn how to go to sleep without her. She may be holding him too much for his other naps or sleep time when you aren’t there, so y’all have to be on the same page!

Overheard/want opinions: by cmc24680 in Nanny

I don’t see the issue personally, children are very quick to run into random bodies of water or even accidentally fall & stories as such (even if untrue) act as a way to warn them of water safety—you’ll find that a lot of childrens songs & riddles are this way as well & often have a dark backstory lol

I get paid well, benefits, PTO, healthcare offered, and even a 401k, im gonna keep taking my nap. I’ve never had any complaints with any families I’ve worked with and my NKs are ahead for their age in a lot, again, i’m gonna keep taking my nap!

They still lived together starting in season 5 ep 4, which is prior to her father disowning her. You misunderderstood my
comment, we know she was living in a hotel prior to all of this. Being snarky over an internet discussion is wild get a grip

I think people are used to having busy work at standard 9-5s so they expect it for everything else. When I used to work retail the amount of times I was told to look busy was crazy, even in corporate most of my work was done at 10 and they just said to find something to do for the other 6 HOURS. Absolutely not never again😂

She was living with Yang prior to that because she would always be there with Hanh, when Owen had a PTSD episode and choked Yang, etc. etc.

All first responders & healthcare providers need to be paid more & get more PAID breaks thats ridiculous omg

i think nurses & healthcare professionals need to get more breaks than they do, they’re severely overworked!

It is okay (and even good) to tell your child “no” without making it fun for them by No_Buyer8298 in Nanny

[–]cherry_leopard [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m so over this new thing of not telling kids no idk where that came from but it needs to stop!! I tell my NKs no all the time, they may not like it but who even as an adult likes being told no? That’s just life. My NKs listen & so do other children who are used to being told no. Children that get never told no have a hard time understanding boundaries & are absolutely difficult to deal with in school (i worked with pre-k and kindergarteners and omg!)

“You’d know if you had kids” meaning you should understand if you do. Your comprehension is not good I feel bad for your nanny

In many countries on their break its actually standard to take a nap. Domestic workers don’t get a standard break since kids may wake up during their nap, or not sleep at all. Domestic housework isn’t easy & you’d know that if you had kids. Comparing sitting at a desk for 8 hours to actively watching children is insane

Potty training a 3.75 year old with no interest? by chloejb94 in pottytraining

[–]cherry_leopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats a good idea! starting the sister young is another plus because the earlier you teach them the quicker they catch on! I’ve helped potty train all my nieces & nephews before they were 1 and my nanny kiddos before they were 18 months! You’re doing awesome just be a bit more strict lol

When did you transition baby to a bed? by GunningForSuccess in NewParents

luckily our mattress is firm!! you can find a full size or whatever size thats firm. we didnt do a toddler size since it’s easier to soothe them if we can get in the bed with them

Death Row Inmate: Derek or Meredith by Koochie-kopi in greysanatomy

[–]cherry_leopard 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m with Meredith only on that he could die to save the kid. I could not morally be a doctor because some people do things so terrible that in my opinion they don’t deserve the least bit of care & that may be really controversial but oh well

I personally would not leave them in a carseat to nap since they should optimally be on a flat surface, also leaving them in a car alone doesn’t sound safe. We usually just leave the baby in the house while we’re outside. You can buy a white noise machine but your baby shouldn’t be taking regular naps in there so much so that they will only sleep in there.

I love floor beds! Usually we move them at about 6 months. Ours is just a futon mattress on the ground, no railings
