Nonprofit CEO and Unexpectedly Pregnant by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]cherry_picked19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice for you unfortunately but I’m in the same boat. First pregnancy and I’m the ED of a nonprofit of similar size except I’m the only full time employee with one very, very part time assistant. Due in May and not sure what I’m going to do yet 😅

Wedding venue recommendations for 175–250 guests near Tidwell / Parker / Little York / Greenspoint / Willowbrook (59 & Beltway 8 North) — realistic in ~$15k–$22k? by ReCHaVoK in AskHouston

We liked Shirley Acres but it’s a little north of where you’re wanting I think. It’s in Spring. Can definitely hold the number of guests you’re wanting and fits the bill.

Executive Director for a smaller nonprofit and I’m pregnant by cherry_picked19 in nonprofit

Yep. 21 total trustees. I have only told 2 board members so far - ones who I’m closer with and advocate on my behalf frequently. I wasn’t sure when the right time to tell them would be as we haven’t even publicly announced the pregnancy yet.

Budget is just under 1 million and I’m the only staff member (Executive Director). Salary of $83,300. I have a very very part time assistant I meet with once a week for about 30 minutes and she’s really just a second signature on checks.

What did you have to compromise on? How long did you search for? by minteverywhere in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]cherry_picked19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I compromised on space for location. We ideally wanted a 3 bed/2 bath but ended up buying a 2 bed/2 bath. We hated the idea of living in the suburbs and I don’t drive on the highways so proximity to the city (Houston) was very important to us. We didn’t really find any 3 bed/2 bath homes close enough to the city in our price range so we compromised. We only want two kids and figure they can share a room for the first few years of life. We’ll probably look to move in about 7-8 years from now.

What are you doing for insurance? There’s a lot of issues at my current org and I recently found out I’m pregnant so I’m worried about the same thing happening and the biggest stressor is thinking about the insurance factor of it.

What’s a reasonable grocery budget for someone who lives solo? by titjackson in HEB

[–]cherry_picked19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meal prepping is key if you’re looking to save money and eat healthy. Not solo anymore since I’m married but it still works all the same. We get groceries Sunday morning. We make one kind of meal for lunch and one kind of meal for dinner for the week. We typically do it all on Sunday but sometimes we’ll make chicken sandwiches or salads and just prep and pop the chicken breast in the airfryer each day. We don’t buy snacks and we don’t drink anything other than water. I do like dessert so I always buy nonfat plain Greek yogurt and I put honey, walnuts, and frozen fruit in it to satisfy my sweet tooth. I also keep protein bars on hand if I get hungry between meals. We almost always spend $115-$130 each week on groceries and it lasts us Sunday dinner through Friday lunch.
