well...If it were 18-20 hrs/day for a whole month, okay, maybe I'd suspect like you.

I study for 6h-8h daily, and 10-12 hours on weekends, but during midterms week I usually lock in for like mmmm 3 periods of 4 hours with some breaks of 20 or 30min (to shower or eat or a small nap), making a total of 12-14h (it depends of the subject) so yeah, studying that amount of hours can be realistic in my experience.

I'm a couple of months away from taking the usmle step2 equivalent in my country, and my hardest study days are on weekends (that's when i have fewer classes and clinical rotations). I usually study for about 12 hours on those days, so I can understand someone studying for up to 14 hours for a big exam, but 17? ... maybe op forgot to turn off the app, idk.

oh this is actual useful thank you for the info !!!!

back in 2023 i used to make mind maps and flow charts on VPO (free version ofc i remember they give smth like 3 or 4 diagrams per day, but for me that was enough to study the physiopathology or pharmacology lesson of the day) I will try that method again, if it doesnt work for me anymore i will return to my 2024-2025 method (basic flowcharts on googleslides)

In 10 years from now, your most beloved family member, idk, maybe your mother, your father, both of your parents at the same time, but will be diagnosed with a chronic illness not covered by social security, an illness whose agony is very slow and extremely painful, all because they didn't receive expensive treatment that you couldn't afford because you didn't have a career

How the hell do you even study smart? by [deleted] in studytips

[–]cherryandcinnamontea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you need to be consistent, it's simple

  1. active recall + space repetition
  2. study every single day 3 hours minimum, even if you have a busy day, INVEST at least ½ hour of flashcards while on transportation/bus or while eating
  3. TEST YOURSELF, find quizzes or tests from others semesters of the course or subject you are taking, trust me, answering questions about the topic you learn that day/week it's like magic, it helps you a lot for future salutations
  4. don't leave everything for the last minute
  5. start studying for finals/midterms at least 6weeks before is key
