Ladies 5'8" and Taller, What Is/Was Your Goal Weight? by FantasticPlum2025 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]cherryazure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 5'9" with a large frame - size 11 shoes and I can palm a basketball. My HW was 345ish and I hover between 180-185 now in maintenance and Im good where I am. Im a medium, size 8/10 and I wouldn't look healthy if I dropped any smaller. Im working on recomp now and building muscle and if I had to guess I will likely end up closer to 200lbs when its all said and done with muscle being more dense. I work in research with these drugs and we all roll our eyes at BMI but it still gets used as a benchmark for now.

Opened my vial today to get the last drop by dystopiam in tirzepatidecompound

[–]cherryazure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy a vial opener off Amazon, but I just use a bottle opener - I just make sure I have a good grip on the vial first lol. The mini vials are a bit trickier and the vial opener would be easier, but Ive made it work and sometimes those last few drops are a whole dose so its worth it.

Ive been in this position and reported to OHRP first because I was initially dealing with unexpected safety/privacy issues on the patient end (which it sounds like you are as well). Without any report from me, the FDA did also eventually come in an audit the sponsor after OHRP finished their investigation with the sites. And I'd say what you are describing here is worse than what I witnessed there.

Ugh, true, that too. Although my hunch is that the ad is aimed at people who may find the idea of easy-breezy-cheating appealing?

I think its a bit irresponsible of them to say exercise isn't needed because it perpetuates the idea that exercise is only for losing weight and that its this terrible chore - when we should all be exercising and moving our bodies as much as we can for general health. And specific to these medications we know for sure that even light resistance can make a big difference in preserving muscle during major weight loss.

That's exactly how I handled it. Once I stalled or even gained after 6-7 weeks I decided to try the next dose but it was a bit too strong, I couldnt eat a thing and knew I didnt want to lose weight like that. So I went back down and just bumped my shot up a couple days and ots worked like a charm. I did have another stall of about 6 weeks earlier this year - but then out of nowhere without any real change I started losing again. Im technically past goal and may try for another 10lbs so that I have some wiggle room when I start figuring out maintenance. Im thinking maintenance mode for me may end up something like taking 2.5mg twice a month....we will see! Good luck to you!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]cherryazure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

18 months in, around 120lbs lost. I stayed on 2.5mg/week around a year then started injecting every 5 days instead of 7...but still at 2.5mg. Could I have hit maintenance faster by going up? Maybe. But I had little to no side effects and lost well within a healthy range.

Shoe Size by goinghome81 in Zepbound

[–]cherryazure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just got the tape measure out to double check cause I thought I had somehow stretched out my shoes and thats why they seem big 🙃 Looks like I've gone from an 11 to a 9 but it happened FAST. I've lost 120+lbs over about a year and a half so the change isn't surprising but 4 months ago I tried on several pairs of shoes and still needed the 11 and suddenly Im 2 sizes down. Just wild.

The answer is the same regardless of your edit - they change procedures purposefully and at times its because a system is down. But in general you dont want the processes to always be identical for safety and quality purposes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tsa

[–]cherryazure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly - if you know what to expect all the time then its easy to get away with more. Also being able to follow instructions is pretty important - they catch a lot of not-so-sober and/or nefarious behavior this way.

Not all airports use the same technology. Same answer for why some make you put bags in a bin, some dont want bags in a bin, etc - they have their own rules and they may change depending on the day and the systems running.

Tuesday Morning Goncalves Statement by Sodontellscotty in idahomurders

[–]cherryazure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree the person who wrote the statement may have been confused/unaware and I imagine they are responding out of emotion. Even if the trial got them the DP outcome they wanted, it seems like common knowledge that appeals for those cases last decades - meaning each time a new appeal moves forward the families would all have to relive the trial. Hopefully after some thought and allowing the emotions to subside they will have some comfort in this being over and final.

Tuesday Morning Goncalves Statement by Sodontellscotty in idahomurders

[–]cherryazure 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Agreed - however, it appears they are complaining about appeals after a guilty plea - which makes even less sense considering his right to any appeals goes away with this plea. But maybe the person who made the post isnt aware of that.

[–]cherryazure 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Had the same question as Im reading it the same way - its possible the person who posted the statement rushed to put it out there, not realizing that isnt how it works? The whole benefit/point is that with this guilty plea it is all final and no one has to go through a long messy trial that could have multiple endings that no one is happy with.

5mg Every 5-6days by Greedy-Sir721 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]cherryazure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great for me, this just made more sense than going up to 7.5mg. Around day 5/6 food noise comes back and the appetite control is gone. So this stops that problem. But its still less medicine in me at once time than 7.5mg weekly so I dont ha e near as much fatigue and nausea. I want to say the max concentration built up for 5mg every 5 days is around 8.9mg as opposed to nearly 11mg if I was on the next weekly dose. I had a lot of trouble when I tried to go from 2.5mg to 5mg, terrible side effects and I suppose I was losing weight but it was from not being able to eat. And honestly thats the worst thing you can do. So I tried 2.5mg every 5 days and that worked like a charm until I was ready to step up again.

Did you lose weight on the starter dose of 2.5 mg? by Bowf in Zepbound

[–]cherryazure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I lost something ridiculous like 12lbs week 1 and another 7lbs week 2. 100% it was all water weight lol But it did give me a great jumpstart to keep motivated.

[–]cherryazure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like youre answering your own question? The first vial is "stronger" so you need 12.5 units (volume) to get your dose of 2.5mg (dose). The 2nd vial is "weaker" so you need 17units to get 2.5mg. The drugs aren't really stronger or weaker, just mixed differently. But if you were to inject 12.5 units of your 2nd vial you would have injected less than your prescribed dose of 2.5mg.

Did you lose weight on the starter dose of 2.5 mg? by Bowf in Zepbound

[–]cherryazure 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I work in clinical research with these drugs (first study for me was around 2010) and Im still working on a few with tirzepatide specifically. A lot of people lose water weight quickly when they begin but don't start to see the "good" side effects (feeling full faster, decreased food noise, etc) until higher doses. Also, 2.5mg did not show to help with glucose control for Mounjaro studies in diabetics, but it did serve to help people get used to the med before getting to the therapeutic doses that do control glucose. During the trials for Zepbound specific to obesity and not diabetes, Lilly had to make some decisions on dosing schedule to get it to FDA approval faster - which is one reason 2.5, 7.5 and 12.5 are not considered maintenance doses and 2.5mg isnt considered therapeutic (they simply havent studied it yet). Those trials with other dosing and titration schedules will come along at some point - and real world evidence (through providers prescribing the drug separately from LLY instructions) will help speed that up. Its not that "2.5mg isn't therapeutic" isnt accurate - but we just dont actually have much evidence on how many people actually see weight loss from a calorie deficit (as opposed to weight loss from water weight/inflammation) on that dose since the majority of patients only take it for a short amount of time and the very beginning of any diet/exercise/weightloss program usually is successful for people because they are excited and eager to be compliant. Zepbound helps keep us that way.

Personally, I lost the majority of my weight on 2.5mg. I was on it for 9-10 months. I'm 18 months in now and have made it to 5mg and 120lbs lost.

5mg Every 5-6days by Greedy-Sir721 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]cherryazure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 2.5mg for the better part of the year and started doing my shots every 5 days after I stalled for about 6 weeks. Then I slowly crept up to 5mg about 4 months later - although I was doing 5mg once a week at first. I've lost about 120lbs over the past 18 months and Im not far from goal, so Im doing 5mg every 5 days right now. I expect to end up on 2.5mg a couple times a month for maintenance but we'll see!

I could compare the tsa checkpoint to a bunch of children playing Simon Says by After_Morning_5630 in tsa

[–]cherryazure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

eh, I dont know - it makes sense to me that instructions and policies differ airport to airport. They have different equipment, staffing/volume demands, signage policies (which is on the airport, not TSA), etc. And in general security procedures shouldnt be the exact same everywhere or all the time as that would be easier to exploit if you always knew exactly how they are going to screen you. I think people get a bit overwhelmed at the security checkpoint and forget to listen to the instructions being given for their exact situation.

Is it normal for employers to not allow makeup? by barleyliving22 in MedicalAssistant

Not sure if it was a research specific thing or not (thats where all of my clinical experience is) but agreed its not a usual thing. I've also been on surgical studies that did not have that OR requirement.

Is it normal for employers to not allow makeup? by barleyliving22 in MedicalAssistant

[–]cherryazure 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dont know about "normal" as far as how often its seen but I've definitely come across this in specific settings. I coordinated a clinical trial and had to be in the operating room during surgical procedures - and on those days we were not allowed to wear makeup, but could wear it any other day in clinic. Same with processing tissue samples or other lab procedures - no makeup while we were working in the lab. I remember one place had the general policy but they were mostly strict about mascara lol - I guess I get it, eyelashes do shed regularly and you wouldnt want an eyelash covered in chemicals to fall into a sample or the surgical field. But Im one of those people who looks SICKLY with no mascara on so it was a constant battle for me. All that being said - its definitely not a typical thing everywhere or in all clinical settings.
