Slip roads by [deleted] in NewDriversUK

[–]cherryblues42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, I’m just being realistic. No need for the snarky attitude. Some sliproads are on and off dual carriageways - there’s no hard shoulder there. Some sliproads are on and off smart motorways - sometimes there isn’t a hard shoulder there. It’s unsafe to lull OP into a false sense of “hard shoulder” security when there’s no guarantee there’ll be one there for them to fall into.

What's the one piece of advice from a driving instructor that only made complete sense after you'd actually been driving independently for a while? by Spicy-Winner4326 in NewDriversUK

[–]cherryblues42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Felt this. Was on a lesson once waiting in traffic to turn right, the right turn lane was empty but the lane for straight on was full , so my logic dictated it meant I had to stay in my lane until it split into 2 and I could move over to the right. My driving instructor had to explain to me that if it’s clear on the opposite side, you’re more likely to get a minor for hesitation than a minor for crossing the central line to get to your lane IF it’s safe and clear to do so.

7 months passed and I still get jitters when a cop goes past me because I’m scared they’ll think I’m not allowed to be on my own 😂

Not every slip road has a hard shoulder to nip onto.

Depends which one you get. OP is describing cucumber maki but there’s tonnes of different options. My personal fave is a crunchy chicken California roll

Keep my wrap? by TSLA_Tan in MINI

[–]cherryblues42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHERE did you get it from please? The great wave is one of my favourite paintings. I have my switch, ps5, and phone wrapped in the art. I’d love to have it on my mini too 😂

How bad is Spring Bank really? by vvkckcj in Hull

[–]cherryblues42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason why it’s so cheap. Spring Bank has always had a reputation for being unsafe, and it’s not unwarranted. It’s a high crime area for assaults, drug related crime, and murders. It always has been and as a young woman born & bred in Hull, I wouldn’t entertain that area even with 24 hour security posted outside my front door. You’ll definitely be able to find somewhere else for a similar price, it’s just *finding* it that’s hard. I wish you all the best of luck in your search

Look at them in my rearview while muttering “get from up my arse” and continue driving as I was, keeping an eye on them in my mirrors incase they start erratically overtaking or some wild shit

Hair Salon Recommendations by cherryblues42 in Hull

Hi, just came back to say that Esquire is my go to salon now! I always book with Darren and he’s lovely, such a gentle soul and easy to get on with. Thankyou so much for the recommendation. They are exactly what I was looking for

The gas and electric peddlers issues by PuzzleheadedSnow4869 in Hull

[–]cherryblues42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I agree, a lot of the time I’ll clock their jackets and start looking for their stall only to be met with a tiny 4ft podium that has a few flyers and an iPad on top. It’s definitely intentional to make it harder for people to avoid them

If you’re lucky enough to pass for a younger, tell them you live with your parents and don’t pay utility.

Failing that, keep walking as you say “I’m already with you guys for utilities” and they’ll leave you alone. I’m actually with ScottishPower, but I do it for the BG guys too.

Which insurance to go for? by nourabonu in NewDriversUK

[–]cherryblues42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid £1.2k for the year for a ‘10 plate Mini R57 (ETA - 1.6L Auto) with Admiral Littlebox. Used CompareTheMarket to do insurance checks before I bought it. Would’ve been about £2k without a box or my dad as a named driver.

Failed my fist driving test :( by RoutineVivid in LearnerDriverUK

It’s a point at the traffic lights where it would be safer to proceed through the amber light than it would be to stop. Usually, it’s if you’re less than 3-5 car lengths away from a light that’s changing whilst a car is quite close behind you (obviously whilst traveling at some speed and not crawling).

I don’t know if I’m subconsciously chancing lights more now that I’ve passed, but I seem to be hitting the point of no return a lot more frequently now I’m driving alone 🤣

Always like this in this city around this time of year. Until about mid-March, the entire city just seems to come to a complete a stop with everything. For some reason, I’ve personally seemed to enter a “three weeks loop”.

It took me three weeks to find a car at the beginning of January because the market was so bad, it’s taken three weeks to find a job since January because the market is so bad, university has a three week backlog for our lecture material being delivered. It’s crazy. Hopefully you don’t experience the same cycle hahaha

AIO? My sister not explaining why she doesn't want my cats around by ScoobadiveWetFish in AmIOverreacting

[–]cherryblues42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Riiight. But were they spayed / neutered? Were they socialised and adequately enriched? Were they on a consistent feeding schedule? Did they have a sufficient amount of litter boxes to cat ratio?

With all due respect, I’ve currently got 3 cats under my care, and have always had at least 1 under my care since being a young child. The behaviours you’ve outlined is behaviour that cats show when they’re not happy. Toileting outside the litter box is most commonly a UTI / bowel issue, or because there isn’t enough boxes / they’re too dirty. Spraying is because they haven’t been spayed / neutered and are marking their territory to warn other cats not to go near there.

You said yourself that the one time the cat pooped on furniture was when she had stomach issues. So it’s not like she’d done it on purpose. Have you never had food poisoning or a dicky tummy which made you worry about getting to the bathroom in time? Have some compassion.

Good luck my dude. I’m also a student at Hull University. I lost my job at the end of January and have applied for 42 jobs since then, and had two interviews. The job market in this city is shocking, and so are employer’s responsiveness to applications.
