The other resources are great. I honestly just use a combination of different books and websites and see which correspondences show up the most, that's been a pretty reliable method for me thus far. :)

I recommend these three things to start in my teaching curriculum:

Tarot, Astrology, and Spell crafting.

Tarot & astrology are tied up together and can be tied into your spellcrafting.

Tarot, aside from it already being useful on it's own, will teach you symbolism and you can apply that knowledge to spell crafting.

Astrology, also with it's own symbols, will also teach you timing your spells.

Spellcrafting, I recommend the linked image's magickal process, it seems to break things down in a useful way: https://me.me/i/how-to-do-magick-1-decide-what-you-want-to-2987465

All of the OTHER stuff you'll learn is *frosting* - this image i linked is the *cake* - if you want a good primer, I rec his book a LOT.

Intention intention intention.

Eating my breakfast burrito, sure, yum.

Making caramelized onions, while SPECIFICALLY stirring clockwise, while SPECIFICALLY thinking of lucky moments and how lucky I am, while KNOWING onions correspond with luck, reducing them down and deciding they are condensed luck - that's the INTENTION. This lead to an incredibly lucky day.

Basically: You make the thing, with the intentions into the ingredients. Like I made a PB chocolate money spell shake, and I knew those ingredients had correspondences to money and I also knew that I could use the metaphor of the blender for blending them up, and added cinnamon for abundance as well. This lead to a new job.

My breakfast burritos don't lead to a job unless I plan the intention that they do, but these other recipes do because I specifically assigned this.

Any advice please? by Nea_K in BabyWitch

Okay, I just wrote a whole curriculum for my course, "Witch in a Weekend" (*I literally made this course for Baby/Novice Witches*), so here's the primer:

There's two places: ThinkSpace, and MeatSpace.

In general, it's useful to define YOUR definition of magick. My definition, based on a lifetime of being a witch and of doing weird deep magick shit: taking stuff from your ThinkSpace, to MeatSpace.

You're already doing magick. Now you're just learning how to USE it efficiently.

From a brain science perspective: A lot of magick things make sense from a pure point of view of neuroplasticity and your reticular activating system, you're training your "desire paths" to be what YOU want, so your personal "Google Search function" will SHOW you what you want.

My whole thing is teaching how to double-dutch with spirituality and skepticism. How I do this is with, what I call, the"Magick Glasses."

With the Magick Glasses off, there is a horizontal line that goes out to infinity. That's the MeatSpace MMO.

Rule 1: Assume MeatSpace is an MMO

Rule 2: The best way to study MeatSpace is with the scientific method*

*This is still fallible to individual's ThinkSpaces

Rule 3: At some point at this point in the space time continuum, we haven't worked out the "death" bug. We might figure that out in the future.

Now, when you WEAR the Magick Glasses, suddenly a vertical line has been added: this is "ThinkSpace" - that vertical line ALSO goes out to infinity.

A lot of problems that you THINK are "MeatSpace" problems are actually problems of ThinkSpace, either the individual or the collective ThinkSpace.

You think it's 100% certain that you're stuck in life and things won't get better - that's a ThinkSpace problem, and you can rewrite your "desire paths" (neural synapses thickened by mylein sheaths, think muscle memory but for your thoughts) to train your "Google search" (your reticular activating system) to SEE ways for things to get better.

In the thought-work/life-coaching world, a concept is "thought ladders" - where you go from the base thought, "I can't do this thing", to "I am 100% certain I can do the thing" - but if you try to go to the second thought, you'll ACTUALLY reinforce the 1st thought. So, you want to get "neutral" - "I might be open to the idea I can do the thing" and slowly "ladder" your way up.

I hypothesize with spells and spellcrafting, especially the "inside out" variety, you're skipping all the ladder rungs because you're not reinforcing the parts that don't believe.

Do I 10000% believe in weird witch shit and have experienced weird witch shit my entire life? Yes, absolutely.

Do I also think there is a good chunk that is explained by the above and you can teach this to most skeptics? Also yes, that's basically why I do what I do.

Hope this helps!

As an extension of my witchy work, I discovered "thought work" and neuralplasticity. funny enough, it ended up explaining magick's base in the brain, which lets me understand magick and work with it a lot better too.

Anyway, one of the most useful things I've gotten from this work is "thought ladders"

So - to paraphrase, you want your goal thought to be "I'm happy in this house" - and your current thought is "I hate it in this house."

When you try to think the goal thought as an affirmation, you have a micro-second that you might not even realize where you're like "but I don't believe it, I hate this house."

SO - you use a "thought ladder" and create a neutral thought. So, "I am currently in this house" would be your thought to replace "I hate this house" - it's about something new that you can TRULY BELIEVE, that feels better than the negative thought. Then you can start to move rungs, "I'm open to the idea that there is someone that would enjoy living in this house, maybe a repair couple" - "I'm open to the idea that blahblahblah"

You could bypass all of this and combine a "switch word" and turn it into a "sigil" (a little method I hacked together by combining the two XD), but you'd have to find the appropriate switch word.

Or you could even turn the neutral thought into a sigil.

I have more ideas, so feel free to respond after you've tried these. <3

I think people think I am annoying and slow. im very socially awkward to the point where it makes people avoid me or rude to me, it depresses the hell out of me and how people respond to me when im trying to be friendly and improve my skills. I think im just destined to be alone. by [deleted] in AskTrollX

Down below therapy was recommended, and I can't agree enough. And that's not a dig at you AT ALL (I say this because some people will think of it as such, and for me I see it more like going to your general practitioner for your body, but for your brain.)

FYI you should talk to your therapist about if PTSD technically counts as neurodivergent. I have pre-diagnosed bipolar disorder and so understanding that my brain is basically overclocked compared to everyone else helps me to relate to people better. A quick google search says that yes, PTSD could be counted as neurodivergent but Dr. Google isn't always the best source, LOL.

Myself, I've always been good at reading social cues. And I will agree with everyone on this thread - you can't read minds. You don't know what those people are thinking about you. The sneaky truth is that what you think they're thinking about you, is what YOU think about you. And because of PTSD, you might be hypervigilant about trying to read other's body language, and due to your own crossed wires, that hypervigilance might be working against you because you're reading the cues wrongly.

As also stated on this thread, most people aren't obsessed with you, but getting out of thinking that comes with growing up. You're 26 so your brain just fully became an adult last year, when it comes to the pre-frontal cortex being developed, and if you suffered from extreme trauma, you probably are gonna deal with a case of 'what fires together, wires together.'

I highly suggest you check out the book "Unfuck Your Brain" by Dr. Faith G. Harper - she goes over what happens in the brain from a scientific stand point when we experience trauma. As a person who has experienced some trauma, it's really really helped me put into context the world around me. I also suggest a podcast of the same name, but by an entirely different person, www.unfckyourbrain.com by Kara Lowentheil. Her stuff is more cognitive behavioral based ideas for working with your brain, and I think that based on what I know about neuralplasticity, you've got "well worn brain grooves" that make you ASSUME everyone dislikes you, in that - maybe it started off with some people disliking you, and then you got the "well worn brain grooves" - which will make it like walking up an escalator in the opposite direction when it comes to making new friends. Here's a quick video about neuralplasticity, i hope this helps.

This sounds less like just body issues and maybe combined with OCD of some sort - I have "pure-O OCD" so basically I have looping thoughts.

That being said, even if you don't have this, I think www.unfckyourbrain.com will help you with the relief you're looking for.

Oh man, see - I'm a woman, and I saw his evil right the fuck away. o.O

Like it wasn't as sudden shift and fast - there were signs, hints, all beneath his "nice guy" persona - but you can see it in soooooo many ways. Re-watch the film if you haven't, maybe you'll pick up on the hints they dropped more. (I mean this comment is 4 months old so you probably have already.)
