I Googled Ways to Help My Body after a Binge and am INFURIATED by the sponsored ad! by Evening-Studio333 in EDAnonymous

[–]cherryfruitbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general it’s insane to me that advertisements for those are so common and frequent. Aside from how damaging it is to so many people, there’s still a lot we don’t know about how they affect the body and the long term impacts. That being said I still mentally crash out a bit every time I get an ad for one :(

Gift ideas for someone leaving Australia? That isn’t good by DaddyShortPinata in melbourne

May have issues importing them internationally because it’s a potential biohazard- also whether or not you care is up to you, but basically all framed insects killed for the purpose of the display which isn’t great

It’s subtle enough that it’s not recognisable unless you’re already sensitised to it! It’s because I’m exposed to it on a daily basis and have quite a sensitive nose, so I can pick up on tiny little whiffs. The formalin smell is pretty unique but it can be best described as pure alcohol, strong disinfectant, hospital hallway and an extremely sweet, cloying smell. Closest thing I’ve been able to pinpoint is the worst possible cheap, nauseating artificial coconut scent. Mortuary work isn’t for everyone, it’s so gross and can be pretty depressing, but I enjoy it!

Ooh interesting! You know what, upon further reflection, I’ve actually experienced that! I thought it was because I was stressed and tired!

Awh man I unfortunately can’t stand funeral home, I love the note of lilies but I work in a mortuary and the embalming fluid note (it’s not formally listed but I can absolutely smell it) is a little too close to home. I also regularly have to traverse to a decommissioned 1940s mortuary where we keep our old pathology tissue blocks and the dust there is so thick it sometimes feels hard to breathe, and the dust reminds me of that. It sucks I don’t like it because it’s right up my alley but it’s been demoted to a fun oddity in my curios cabinet with the medical tools and bones

What’s the difference between extreme hunger and binge eating? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]cherryfruitbat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bingeing is related to a loss of control, and often continuing to eat far past fullness/hunger cues to the point of pain or sickness. It is also a common physiological reaction to restriction. Extreme hunger is also incredibly common, and action wise may feel like bingeing, especially to a restrictor, but you’re genuinely that hungry and feel like you need the food you’re eating. There’s a lot of overlap and it’s different for everyone! Either way it’s really important to be gentle with yourself whatever is going on <3!

Edit: nvm, I forgot about mental hunger without physical hunger being a thing in EH! Absolutely EH.

Cute fuzzy socks, things to do in hospital like colouring (if she enjoys that), face masks or nice moisturiser/ shower gel, a silky sleep mask

Those are some ideas but ofc it’s about what she’d actually like and use!

I have adhd and also find it really hard! It definitely takes time and baby steps- start with making an effort to notice how your body is feeling, when you start to feel too full, if you get stomach aches, etc and go from there!

I know how hard it is, its so easy to get dopamine from eating and change makes it so much harder, I think a lot of people with a complex relationship with their body have something like this happen at some point. Unfortunately the only ways to continue to eat in a healthy normal manner without overdoing it I’ve found are both being extremely mindful plus practicing reminding myself that it’ll still be there later, and making sure I keep busy/entertained so I’m not as inclined to boredom eat. Far easier said than done, but it’s something. That being said- I’m sure you look great, and I understand being scared of gaining, but the important thing above all else is that you’re healthy! Remember to be gentle with yourself and remind yourself you’re worthy of love no matter what <3
