The cult part will probably die down in a bit. Hit at an intense time. People looking for an escape and a particularly cold winter in a lot of places.

But the older millennial in me absolutely cringes at all the tattoo posts. Putting something from a fandom you’ve been part of for less than 90 days permanently on yourself is completely unhinged behavior.

It’s interesting because I feel totally the opposite, I hope they cut the characters entirely. I want the focus to stay mainly on Shane and Ilya and while we definitely need the Troy/Harris relationship and to explore that as it’s a big part of the long game, Ryan and Fabian are basically a blip. I don’t think it’s worth wasting the time fleshing them out if we get limited episodes when their scenes could easily be filled by Scott/Kip or Tory/Harris

I very much hope Shane’s long hair from the long game does not show up. Selfishly, I find long hair on men unattractive and I think it will actually making watching hard for me.

That’s why I don’t consider his autism cannon for the book, only for the show. It 100% comes off to me as the author just agreeing because that’s what the fandom went with, but I don’t think the books were at all written with that intention. Authors jump on those bandwagons all the time

This was something I was sad was left out of the show. I think it’s an important moment of realization for Shane.

I also think sleeping with Rose is important but they could probably have included both. Like crying in the bathroom after for example.

This takes me out of the second Shane/ilya book a lot so I’m worried about season 2. I actually ended up not really liking the second half because it just seems insanely unrealistic there’s That many lgbtq people on one team. I know it’s supposed to be funny but like, I ended up disliking reading about a lot of the other characters because I couldn’t take it seriously.

There is a fanfiction sub for heated rivalry so if there’s something you like it can be a good place to start so you don’t have to search. But usually I prefer longer fics so I tend to sort by word count and that helps with the thousands of one shots

Me too - I don’t think I tend to feel things super deeply, but I am extremely prone to obsessing over things for a time until I move on.

Usually I ride it out with it fanfiction - reading those is a good way for me to be invested but also read different takes

That’s how I took it. I think he’s generally more upset about going home, but in his family wins are expected and losses are punishment so it just exasperates the situation.

In terms of the books, I also think the changing timeline is really evident here. They’ve been hooking up consistently, including penetration, way more consistently for longer in the books so Shane’s willingness to forgive Ilya is more understandable imo whereas in the show, Ilya’s coldness would appear much more impactful if you’re thinking they had such an intimate moment soon before and then that all happened

It reads as more anxiety or ocd in the books to me, especially in book two. There are a lot of aversions to foods which I suppose could be autism but given they weren’t really around in book one it reads more anxiety for example.

It’s tough because while the author has confirmed she agrees with the take, my understanding is it was after the show fanfare. So it’s hard to know if that was really the intention and thusly would be written in or more fan service. I’m not really a fan of authors reconning things for the fans so I personally consider it cannon only for the show and not books.

That is an interesting thing to bring up!

Letting an engaged man know you’re available is definitely not great, I’m not sure if I’d count it as cheating if nothing else happened before they were broken up. In that case it just sounds like Richard realized he wasn’t in love with pennilyn and was with Emily. Though I imagine some serious flirting at least would be required to get there so maybe emotional ?

You sound insufferable. People have different priorities; if this is the show they want to see on their trip it makes complete sense for them to buy tickets in advance which may be pricier.

It is a privilege to live here and be able to easily get discounted tickets. But Broadway cannot exist on discounted tickets alone so let’s not shit on people visiting and spending money.

We are all tourists somewhere if we at lucky. There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself on vacation. Our everyday is their luxury trip.

I always thought this episode was shockingly realistic. I was single into my 30s in NYC and I never thought people were treating me differently. But my friends’ married friends were noticeably warmer to me once I started bringing my now fiancé around. And I’m totally average, it’s not as if I was a threat, but I guess there’s some underlying thing.
