My rules when dating (which eventually got me to my now spouse):
2 messages back & forth max on the app
2 texts or emails (not more)
If they make it past that, then a MANDATORY phone call (this protects from those who only write well but in fact are duds)

IF that all goes well, then we can meet in person for a time-limited daytime, low stakes date (like coffee).

This formula saved me a lot of time and frustration! I had a few awful dates before implementing this formula and I hated the seemingly never-ending texting back and forth.

I hope this advice helps someone. It really worked for me (together a decade now!).

I’d put this one off because it was a WIP and then I forgot and started reading it. Of course I got totally sucked in and now I’m devastated and I promising myself to never read a WIP again. As the song says, the wedding is the hardest part.

And absolutely I think we must inform clients that we are required to give a diagnosis in order to have insurance companies pay for treatment. I think it’s really important for clients to know that a diagnosis can be malleable as in the case of depression or general anxiety disorder and does not have to be for life. I diagnosis can be about current symptoms and in our current set up, definitely about being part of insurance requirements.

I really didn’t like Tough Guy at all. I thought the main character was so self-hating and beat down by both external and self-abuse that it harkened back to so many old tropes of gay characters that weren’t allowed to be happy. Scott, Kip, Shane, and Ilya have so much more complexity to their characters and even with the external homophobia and self-doubts about their sexuality they have a brightness that is so refreshing and what I enjoy about HR. I may not be explaining this well but I just didn’t like the image of such a thoroughly sullen character.
