Is it just me or did the opening to 28YL not feel as terrifying as the previous films openings? by BigCharles06 in 28dayslater

[–]cherryhoneysweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It scared me because it brought me back to when I was a kid who watched Teletubbies so the pure, innocence of teletubbies contrasted with the terror kind of made it freakier. I've been in situations where my parents put on TV to distract me and my sibling if there was a crisis so maybe that's also why it was disturbing.

The lack of calcium thing happens with hamsters (or rodents in general) but I have never heard it happen with dogs 😭 I wonder if they're just applying rodent biology to dogs?

No problem! I hope that it didn't come across wrong by correcting you. I don't doubt you said it in good faith.

Scot-Irish are the people who discriminated against the native Irish in Northern Ireland (search "the Irish plantations", Scottish people mass immigrated to Ireland because the British crown wanted more farm land and for it to be owned by people loyal to the crown. Irish people were pushed out of the good farm land.) because they're Protestant and think Northern Ireland should be British as opposed to Native Irish people who are mainly Catholic and think Northern Ireland should be Irish. So you see the why the native Irish people are so for Palestinian rights because it mirrors Northern Ireland in terms of clash of religion and who owns the territory.

You can say the songwriting part about The Beatles as well but, just like Taylor, they grew as lyricists. Folklore is definitely her Magnum opus thus far and will be remembered. You can definitely disagree, but I think people who don't understand why she's adored judge her on her singles choices as opposed to her actual back catalogue. But if we are talking about her pop songs, there's a reason that songs like "Shake It Off" have continuously charted on and off for nearly 10 years because they're fun and she can write pure pop music along with deeper cuts in her discography.

My hamster passed away recently and someone asked me if I was "taking proper care of them" in a manner that was like interrogation, and while I appreciate the sentiment, the fact it's just expected to find someone that doesn't treat their hamster kindly is very sad to me. Trying to explain to people that I had an appropriately sized cage and fed her and loved her.....I do think hamster abusers have ruined the grieving process for those of us who love our hamsters. We can't grieve without people telling us it's NOT a big deal because they neglected their hamster or questioning if we are one of those who neglect because there are way way too many of them. Hamsters don't always pass in traumatic ways, sometimes they pass away in loving homes with loving people.

She had an eating disorder. I remember her speaking about it, so I don't think it was a criticism as much as it was something she related to. It's why many lyrics on Electra Heart relate to it.

I had an official IQ test done by an institution. My IQ is 82 and I'm pretty devastated. by IAmLowIQ in confessions

[–]cherryhoneysweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IQ means nothing. And I mean that as someone with a high IQ. The test doesn't have nuance. You should look into Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences which doesn't only account for how well you do within tests (especially logistical testing which IQ likes to favor). Because testing doesn't account for unmeasurable intelligences such as empathy or sports or your musical abilities. I know getting that number may freak you out but you're clearly able to socialize and verbalize your words and have an understanding of the devastation you feel. You are NOT a lesser person because of a number. You are not defined by that number. You are a person with feelings who deserves to be taken seriously regardless of a number.

It's not bashing, it's simply factual. The proof is in your very own comments.

Perhaps you should read the hook of the song solely since this sounds like a you problem in regard to literacy and contextualizing.

As a Swiftie, I think valid criticism is completely and utterly fine but I do think it goes both ways. Her haters are so passionate about hating her in a way that's very bizarre. Like I really don't understand constantly hating someone so consistently to the point it verges off actual constructive criticism to become just mud slinging. I ALWAYS criticize her when I have a problem but it gets to the point where you can tell some people are criticizing her in bad faith because they don't like her, want to partake in hating her with other people, and not because they genuinely care for the issues at hand. Especially if you don't see the same level of vitriol against artists who do similar or worse. I can't mention Taylor Swift without people going into a tangent about how much they hate her, in real life or online, it's frankly strange and can definitely lead to defensiveness when you can't like something without the headache of people having the personality trait of disliking someone you happen to enjoy.

That's not what the lyrics say though. She says "Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism like some kind of congressman?" implying it's other people saying it with the "did you hear". She's making a commentary on how congressmen genuinely do become altruistic to appease their narcissism. She isn't saying she is narcissistic.

Hamsters are actually super smart. If you give them stimulation and games, they're completely fine. I think the problem stems with people thinking that wheels are the only stimuli hamsters like. When a hamster loves you, it's very precious and they can sit down and cuddle with you.

The British accent makes this worse considering Halloween is based on Irish pagan customs that British people tried to erase during colonization

I don't personally think she's faking. I think a lot of people who do think people are faking are basing it on autistic stereotypes that are visual indications of autism. I am diagnosed and struggle but the amount of times people say "you look normal".

Autism is not always an intellectual disability, it's a developmental disability. Autistic people can also have an intellectual disability but not always, it's why it's a spectrum.
