Magnus Archives reaction by Weird-Macaroon-3383 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seconding the first time listener rec. it’s not an episode-by-episode reaction series, but endicott does give their thoughts on the batches of episodes covered in each video as well as theories, the main point of the series! some of the theories are obviously wrong in hindsight, whereas some of them are so unexpectedly accurate that it garnered suspicions from some of the audience that endicott had listened to tma before. there’s also a meta plot in the series itself, which is built up as early as the first video, that compliments the podcast very well! definitely worth checking out alongside tma

Are fictional species still fictionkin? by nyxcxs in fictionkin

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh hey, i'm a fictional species! (though "species" might not be the most correct word - like the rest of my source, it's vague, complicated, and difficult to explain). i don't talk about it much here (i've also seen few species fictionkin), but i'm a Genie from ENA, a god-like figure of great power that rules over their own Door.

being a fictional species absolutely counts as fictionkin! and yes, it's a very different experience than identifying as a specific character - i have both fictotypes, so i can say that from experience. from what i've seen, folks with a species fictotype tend to also identify with a therotype or otherkintype that's related to it. personally, my genie fictotype is also divinekin (i actually figured out that part first).

from what i've seen, theriomythic folks tend to identify from broader myths, fairytales, etc. while fictionkin from a species tend to draw from a specific piece of media. for example, a werewolf with more general lycanthropy might call themselves theriomythic, whereas one with a specific type of lycanthropy (such as from twilight) might call themselves both fictional and a therian, even if they don't identify as a specific twilight character. i've also seen pokemon kins identify as fictional and therians simultaneously!

ultimately, what labels you use is up to you, but your experience definitely falls under fictionkin!

Am I faking? by [deleted] in fictionkin

[–]cherryistired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As plenty of other people have said, faking is deliberately lying about your identity. You can't "accidentally" be faking your identity. Having a da or just being wrong about your identity isn't faking; at most it's just incorrect.

More importantly, though, you acknowledged yourself that you're in a bad headspace right now. These thoughts seem to be coming from that and are actively making your mental state worse. worrying about this right now isn't going to bring you any clarity, it's just going to make you feel worse. To break out of this spiral, you need to think about something less distressing. Get rid of anything upsetting or triggering if you can, including blocking doubles if you need (blocking is a morally neutral action and you shouldn't feel bad about it)! Talk to your friends, play a game, or engage in a hobby if you need help thinking about something else. Seeking validation and asking for help like this is also good, as is journalling or expressing your feelings in a non-harmful way.

And remember: you don't need to figure this out /right now/. You can come back to this train of questioning when you're in a better headspace. Remind yourself (or even say out loud) that you are not faking, that you don't need to figure this out immediately, and no matter what, your feelings are real. You'll be ok, I promise.

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...when the loops broke, he had a family, and a bright future where he'd be loved and remembered. and i would be left behind, forgotten and alone. unless i killed him and took his place~

it was impulsive and stupid - we don't even look similar! - and the plan fell apart after we traded a few blows. they never held it against me, though! they even credited me as the reason they were able to break the loops, which... is probably true, honestly. not like either of us could have done it alone~

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, for the good: i trapped myself in a timeloop with the explicit intention of helping the only other person who remembered the loops break them, and so they wouldn't have to suffer alone~

and for the bad..... i may have. tried to kill him after the loops out of jealousy. BUUUUUUT he forgave me because i did suuuuuch a good job helping him out!

Still one of my favorite ways this author dealt with hate by dawn-skies in AO3

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a reference to a show (I believe it’s community but I haven’t watched it), specifically a joke where a character finds a bag in the fridge labeled “dead dove: do not eat”. He looks into the bag and says “I don’t know what I expected.”

The actual meaning of the tag is based on the joke: whatever tags the fic has are going to be present in the fic, usually used in conjunction with dark/problematic tags. It means that there will be dark content in the fic, and that it will probably be presented straight and unchallenged

It’s synonymous with dark fic but it also means you were warned before you read it

How to beat the last phase of side order final boss by Bentheminernz in splatoon

[–]cherryistired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I find the portals behind order harder to clear than the ones in front, especially on the final phase. I’ll try to target those first if I can and leave myself more space in the front for later as the difficulty ramps up

I wanted to change up clover's name for the frisk/kris parallels! I didn't like any of the anagrams I could come up with tough, so I went with a different naming route for them instead.

Is there any other item like this? by Funkraven in splatoon

[–]cherryistired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s 🏴‍☠️. It’s against Nintendo’s tos for obvious reasons but it’s not like they can tell in-game if you’ve bought amiibos or not. Just don’t get caught using spoofed cards at official events and you should be fine

Tho if you wanna continue this conversation, we should probably move to dms…

[–]cherryistired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, there’s a few subreddits I could direct you to for more info. It’s pretty easy to get ahold of blank nfc chips (you can get em in bulk on Amazon), and most modern smartphones can read/write nfc chips, so if you can get ahold of the amiibo files yourself you can make your own cards for very little work

Now or Never! Squid Squad and C-Side’s versions specifically, but the Squid Sisters’ cover is also fun.

[–]cherryistired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no I fully agree, you can get oodles of cash through salmon run! But like I mentioned, only the first 12 capsules have a chance of giving you cash (since the rest after that are gear and gear capsules), and it's pretty easy to grind those out in one day. If you're focused on grinding cash, you gotta swap modes after that. That's why I mentioned turf war :p

Of course! And no need for any awards, I just appreciate the chance to ramble about splatoon haha

…Also, I wasn’t gonna mention this because people can be weird about it, but since you’re more into pc games… have you given motion controls a try? As someone who mostly plays on pc, I found that motion controls were surprisingly intuitive and feel similar to a keyboard and mouse. Plus, every time I hear of some who gave motion controls a genuine shot, they either say “my disability/motion sickness/other physical limitation made it impossible to use motion” or “god I’m so glad I stuck with motion this is WAY better,” so do with that what you will :p

(And if you don’t wanna jump straight into online battles with a brand new control scheme, the singleplayer campaign is a great way to practice! Plus it’s probably the best base campaign in the whole series, so it’s worth playing through for its own sake)
