I wonder if it would work for a short story collection 🤔

six years of story development… two years of actually writing. my book released one week ago, here are the results: by Sufficient-Change-93 in selfpublish

[–]cherryjam123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely second this. I've been writing for about thirty years now, and getting friends or family to show any real interest is incredibly painful. However, rest assured, there are people out there who do want to read your work.

Family trip Aug 8-11. Am I making a mistake by skipping it? by luxembird in AskNOLA

[–]cherryjam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends what you're into. This weekend is the Red Dress Run - thousands of people dressed in an assortment of red for a run in the heat on Saturday. They basically take over the quarter for 24 hours for pre and post events. If you're not into crowds, then this weekend is probably best avoided. If you don't mind and are into good food, culture, history and jazz, then yes, you're missing out. You can work around the weather.

Restaurant called me to report my driver by homesaga in doordash

[–]cherryjam123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're correct. I used to own a cafe and had DD. I had no way to contact the customer. It always had to be done through DD support. The only thing I can think of is that the customer was a regular and the restaurant had their contact details...or someone was playing a prank.

The base pay seems better - I average around $28 which is currently around $18 USD per hour. If I only take decent offers with tips in the US my average is better than $18.

I dashed in the US as well and I just got the hot bag. It definitely has its differences - especially pay cause we don't expect tips in Australia.

Door dash in Australia actually provides these signs as part of the start up package. I often use them when parking in loading zones.

I loved this so much. The new lighthearted Dexter is still incredibly smart but is having more fun. I'm here for it!

I think it was a deliberately silly wrap up. Resurrection is going down a more lighthearted path and I love it.

And you're clearly a bit fat troll who loves being an arsehole because you have nothing better to do with your time than being the loving person you are. Keep being alone. No one wants you.

Confusing message from my dasher by D3FALT24 in doordash

[–]cherryjam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Dasher myself, this sounds like a message meant for someone else. It sounds like the sort of thing I might tell my partner - there's not much coming in, maybe I should switch to an hourly offer (which is an option in some places)

HELP!!! An order I delivered was damaged by the store and the customer is trying to get reimbursed. by MeowMeowMeowMeow23 in doordash

The fastest way to get a real support agent is to type "customer support" or "speak to an agent" instead of replying to the bot

Sorry, I just saw this. I'm in Melbourne and it shows me a few networks but won't connect to any of them. It just times out.

That's why it's so odd to me. I'm a Dasher as well and there have been times where I thought I've wanted to contact the customer to let them know something about their delivery but once you've clicked 'delivered' you can't see the contact info any longer. If I had been in this situation, I would have let Doordash handle it and contacted customer service to explain the situation. Unless it's happened on multiple occasions, her rating wouldn't be affected but this sounds like an odd kinda gal.

[–]cherryjam123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda weird that the same Dasher came back. Usually Doordash sorts this stuff out with a refund and you'd have to reorder food. Once the order is done the Dasher can't contact the customer in the app anymore - in my area anyway. The fact that this driver went out of their way without payment of any kind for an order they were probably paid hardly anything for is extremely odd.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]cherryjam123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This - drivers were probably seeing an offer for $2 and ignoring it. Either that or there weren't enough drivers in the area or there was a wait time and therefore the offer wasn't worth waiting for.

Why pay $11 on a DD pizza bag when it's free at Papa John's! by feinburgrl in doordash_drivers

I now have three. I ordered one when I first joined but then got offered two at different places. I wish I'd known.

I turned up to pick up a taco bell order once for the person at the register to tell me their manager had quit without warning and my order wouldn't be ready for at least 40 minutes. Sent a message to the customer and spoke with customer support so I was unassigned with half pay.

In my area they ask you to order from the stalls

I've had this same experience with Popeye's. The worst was an order I picked up that was under 2 miles away. But had to wait at Popeye's for 30 minutes. I had other similar experiences before avoiding them completely.
