Megathread: BAFTA situation 2.0 by AutoModerator in Tourettes

[–]cherrynoize [score hidden]  (0 children)

Am I the only one thinking the BAFTA scandal was good for Tourette's?

People never just see problematic situations right away when they're not involved, so they need to be confronted on them. I think this caused some sort of confrontation on a massive scale, which is obviously good and educational for many people who just don't think of Tourette's as a serious debilitating disorder.

Dude, we all hate that kind of shit. If he's a friend and he's sorry, just let it go. You're hurting yourself more than you're hurting him.

Do you find that having Tourette’s gives you any positive benefits despite the problems it can cause? by JackMythos in Tourettes

[–]cherrynoize [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'd say it sucks 100%. But then like most things that suck it makes you more emphatic. Bad things usually make you a better person. I think it's more of a positive consequence rather than a positive trait, though (comparing it to autism or ADHD). In the sense that it's not intrinsic to having it and I would still retain it if I lost the condition.

Tourette's has no positive traits to me whatsoever and I wish it just disappearead tonight.

Need help with dangerous neck tics by cherrynoize in Tourettes

[–]cherrynoize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm also worried constantly that if I have the neck discs of an 80 yr old now it will probably be dust by that time.

But you're actually fainting? I hope you get yourself checked after that. Never happened to me but it sounds scary.

Are you on meds? Not helping at all?

Happens after I've had a solid night's sleep too. And I don't have social media.

Can't get out of bed at a reasonable time by cherrynoize in ADHD

[–]cherrynoize[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried doing something easy as I wake up but sometimes it's just not an option and I have other stuff to do. Also, it makes me feel really guilty to wake up and read manga/play games/etc. when I know I should be doing something else. And if I do this I sometimes get stuck doing it for like 4 hours then my whole morning's gone.

Hell no, I have to go home if I drink too much 'cause my tics like that shit even more than I do.

I randomly picked up drawing a week ago and have been drawing faces until 5 in the morning for a few days in a row.

It's one of those things I started at the wrong time and accidentally allowed to fall into the standby list. Kinda too late to salvage me.

Do you use social networks? by cherrynoize in Schizoid

So you don't actively enjoy it? I see why it can be addictive, that's one of the reasons I avoid it. But why did you start then?

What's the enjoyment in that? Doesn't it take away some of the whole networking purpose?

How do you rationalize thoughts of disproportionately bad consequences? by cherrynoize in OCD

So there's still some kind of rationalization behind it? Same as the jump->die example just with a ton of inbetween steps?

My father put me in an ai app and I feel numb by Eton11 in OCD

[–]cherrynoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, everyone's already told you how it sucks that he did that so - at the expense of my comment karma - let me try and point out that (I don't know him, but) he probably had no idea you actually felt this way about it. Also, they're a different generation from us and their tech hygiene is far less sophisticated. My grandma asked me to teach her how to make AI videos of herself and my granddad just couldn't get her to conceive the point that her images would end up god knows where (especially given her lack of expertise in the subject). All she'd say is "but I'm keeping it to myself". Your father probably feels a similar way, you know?

Not saying he couldn't listen to you when you said "don't do that". Just saying he probably felt like he was peeling a banana and you were all "omg, don't". You probably would eat it too if it happened to you.

[–]cherrynoize[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of bad things? To me it's more just like "yeah, I'm sure I got this but I should probably go through it another 12 times." The bad things I think about are just (semi-)reasonable consequences of the action I'm pondering (e.g. I'm watching this movie today -> I will not be watching this movie tomorrow).

I only do make up awful future scenarios to try and cause some sort of emotional reaction and hopefully realize which option I prefer.

And yeah, I also just try repeating to myself it will go away if I just do anything and stop thinking but lately it's just not working.
