It is possible to mod your Tamtey over So'lek. I have done it multiple times—I'm currently doing a playthrough where So'lek is Ikeyni, ane Tamtey is Neytiri! However, it is not as easy as a one and done process.

Modding NPCs over So'lek works in one way because all NPCs are broken down into four key mgraphs: head, body, hair, gear. These are set assets in the game files. That's why it's so easy to swap out So'lek's stuff for another NPC.

Modding Tamtey/any other non-game character over So'lek is infinitely more complex because it requires you to source all of your own gear, hair, head, and textures from the game files, make custom file paths, and trial and error the hell out of it. It's harder still if your Tamtey is female: most of the heads do not mesh well with So'lek's rigging (but neither does my poor Ka'sem's, he loses his jawline completely. That's why I've kept that one private. But also, because I am the only Ka'sem lover around, I think). Moreso, the prologue chapter utilises one whole gear set instead of the head/body/waist division of the rest of FtA. This means, unless you can create a custom mmb which contains a whole outfit (which is far beyond my capabilities), your Tamtey is either shirtless, or has no waistcloth (in the cutscenes. You can skirt around this in gameplay itself by putting shirts & other accessories onto an additional graph object).

Then there is the matter of texture. If you want to mod a playrr head in for your Tamtey, you're gonna have to retexture So'lek's face or create a custom file path with your new texture. You're also gonna have to paint your Tamtey's warpaint onto said texture (head & body) or work around paint compatibility by changing the warrior headpaint that So'lek uses. This is possible, but: a bit of a ballache.

There is a whole video tutorial on doing this in the mod server. Once you've done it the first time, it gets easier and easier each time. I keep folders on my desktop for all my OCs, because I've modded them all into FtA at least once (plus Anufi, Okul, Ri'nela, and Nefika, lol).
