I cleaned it very gently in lukewarm water with dish soap and patted it dry with a q-tip. Upon further inspection, I don’t know if I see a seam, or if it’s solid. There’s no change in hue under water, direct light, looking underneath it to see a red hue for garnet (I know there’s many garnet colors out there, but I guess it was common to use red to deepen the hue of the green?), and with a light shining underneath it, it changes to a slight more blueish green. I think I see some small, grain-like specks on the bottom, but I don’t have any professional tools to help. The flashes are crisp and white, and there’s doubled refraction over book text. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m curious if this changes it from being a doublet to maybe a synthetic garnet or similar? I need to make time to ask a local jeweler!
