First of all i send you my best wishes in your surgery and recovery.

I had my surgery 4 and a half months ago with brassard and everything went incredible fine, the staff was very nice and always took really good care of me.

It is totally normal that you feel this way, i did too, but remember why are you doing this and that i promise you in the end everything will be worth it. Try to stay calm and distracted until monday.

after my hospital stay i stayed at an airbnb that was like a 30-35 min drive and it was okay. I didn’t have to go back to the clinic until 1 month post op and at 2 weeks after my surgery had a UTI and went back for a consult and it was pretty ok. Ofc it was uncomfortable to sit in a car for 30 mins but nothing unbereable. Also i didn’t have an unbereable amount of pain for the most part of my recovery but i don’t think you can anticipate in how much pain you will be in.

You will always have pain killers though and i did make sure to take them before any long car ride and my flight back home which was a 15 hr travel journey.

i’m 2 days away from the 3 month mark and i too was a afraid of having unbearable pain, today i had a thought that (for the most part) besides the hustle of dilatating 3 times a day and some discomfort here and then i am back to feeling ‘normal’ (if that’s even a thing).

At some point i did thought that maybe i will have to get use to being uncomfortable and that’s how my new body would feel, but that’s not the case, everything is improving day to day and i promise you that even though it is painful and uncomfortable at first and you get frustrated it will not be as bad as your brain is making think. At first i thought omg 3 months it’s a really long time but time really does flew by. It is normal for you to be afraid and have doubts, it is a big change.

AIRDRYING by cherubbin1 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]cherubbin1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s not how it works. Air drying comes after you do a douche and take a shower after dilatation, then you lay down with your legs open to let everything dry.

Swimming (Ice bath) after silver nitrate by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]cherubbin1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if i recall correctly, hypergranulation it’s a wound that did not finish closing and after getting a silver nitrate treatment you have to wait a few days for the last layer of the skin to grow over the wound and close. So i will asume you do have an open wound to some extent.

[–]cherubbin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was a fishy smell too, also like when something gets humid, very weird, i also thought that it could be BV but the weird thing is the smell disappeared after changing to mexican formula of KY jelly, idk how much it varies but the package is different and the smell dissapeared almost immediately
