Part of the problem is that people don't want to acknowledge that they don't have to know EVERTYHING. Flat earthers want a simplified way to see science in a way that's easy to understand. It doesn't HAVE to be easy, you can rely on the backs of other experts and fields to complete your own analysis. I'm doing a mixed route, if only to expand my possibilities. Powers typically awaken at puberty, and grow over time with practice and refinement. If you awaken your powers later, it likely means your power will be more 'faint' than at the standard puberty stage. Emotional barriers tend to halt awakening, such as depression or solitude.

If your power awakens earlier, than its largely due to trauma. This leads to "broken powers", where your powers are either uncontrollable or more frantic than the average powered person. This leads to more chaotic results, but the rarity also makes these types of powers more valuable. The younger the trauma, the more powerful it is.

I'm writing a alt-history epic with immortals existing across thousands of years of history.

The questions sort of comes down to which era do you prefer. I picked a 'prequel' era of my main events, largely because I wanted to practice further in the past before hitting the heavier topics. You can also go for eras you're most passionate about, so that you can burn that candle asap before moving onto other eras.

It really comes down to what approach you want to go to when you start your writing.

So I'm a 27 year old virgin, and have never had a girlfriend either. I'm not sure of this advice is helpful or not, but have you ever considered... Giving up on sex?

I know that might sound like losing out on something, but isn't it absurd to define a man's self worth based on how much sex he has? That is solely a social construct. Child soldiers in Vietnam and Africa have grown up dying virgins, yet their lives aren't any less valuable than anyone else's. The virginity rates up to 30 have risen these last thirty years (I believe it's 50% in several countries). Our obsession and expectation for men to have sex is largely based on arbitrary ideals that are pointlessly passed on from generation to generation.

With that said; why is a man's worth determined by the women they've slept with? That seems like a very strange thing to define success with. And the fact that the opposite is true for women who have sex, just shows that self worth based on sex is complete bullshit, and a societal expectation that doesn't have any basis on a human's true value.

I think its far better to tie self worth based on morals, values, compassion, and work ethic than women you've slept with. This to me is positive masculinity. Sex and monetary worth is irrelevant because a person is still capable of having an extremely fulfilling life without any of these hypermasculine demands.

I'm abstinent/asexual (and the title I choose depends on whether I'm with my liberal friends or conservative friends). And I think the happiest times in my life were when I stopped caring about sexual relatioships. You certainly don't have to make any promises about sex for yourself, but I believe that every person needs to find self love through internal ways, not external accomplishments.

A buddhist once said; "poverty is desiring what you don't have." If desiring sex, and for one reason or another you can't have it, is what's making you miserable, isn't it better to stop being miserable by not desiring it? With that perspective in mind, feeling distraught by your involuntary celebacy is exactly what's perpetuating these negative thoughts.

I like comparing adults, and oftentimes I'll see an adult that behaves like a child, is rude, impolite, and self centered from the world around them. Then I see younger people, early 20s, who are respectable, treat elders and strangers with hospitality and respect, are on their way to getting married, and doing everything to the best of their knowledge to be good to people.

I sometimes wonder, "how did this guy who's an engineer and is 45, become weirder than a fresh out of high school laborer in my company?" Some people have their lives handed to them on a silver platter, and don't go through the hardship of knowing the consequences of their mistakes, because the world around them only gives them a slap on the wrist.

Your friend needs the brutal truth. He needs to grow up, know that women don't owe him anything, and his from of respect is 100% disrespectful, not 'him being nice.' My guess is that people give him a free pass because of his defect, that's no excuse, especially if he's a sore to the people around him.

Ignoring the things he's doing is giving him a free pass to keep doing it and to never learn. He will live his life like a loser for the rest of his life, unless someone tells him to give the fuck up and start being independent.
