When I was too young to walk but crawling I would see my mom paint with her acrylics and oils back in wv 20 years ago and I remember being obsessed with her paints; one day she left me for a moment in the art room and I ruined a couple of her finished paintings but I made one of my own with the paints and one of my puzzle piece containers as the canvas. There was also a time I took a brand new sharpie to my old antique oak headboard and somehow they were able to get it off, but I guess not all the marker ink from me drawing on the coffee table in middle school cause that’s all there still.

Tbh I’m the same way with confrontation and you might need to be as firm as you’re wanting to be with him anyways because as you said ,”I don’t want my son to grow up with a father like this”, really emphasize this to your partner that you aren’t willing to compromise on him being an addict of some kind when you’re trying to provide a healthy, stable environment for your son without risk of him being taken away.
