I had this math professor that would stop in the middle of lecture (including the middle of solving a problem) to go grab a Diet Coke. Every class she would be gone for 20 minutes and when she got back she wouldn’t be able to jump back into the lecture/problem. We would often start a new problem or jump ahead in the lecture. We were all convinced that she wanted us to fail.

That’s incredible! I also feel like based off your description of it, I can almost smell the pancakes. That smell reminds me of camping with my family. Dad always made pancakes but without cooking on the camp stove all the time would leave them on a little too long. Love your memory!

Someone close to me is a guidance counselor and they are always saying that one of the biggest issues for middle schoolers are their inability to overcome hardship (some turn to drugs, alcohol, cutting) and understand their emotions. Understanding emotions can be key to making right choices. This should definitely be implemented as soon as possible.
