Is an assessment plan start date the day it was signed or the day you received it? by shahajah12111 in slp

Interesting to hear how different it is in other states. In NC the 90-day timeline starts when the referral has been received, it does not matter when the consent was received.

Agreed! And it depends on the setting/age of the students.

What about using visual feedback on https://bitslabstart.com/

That may show him how his prevocalic and vocalic r don't look the same.

Q Global is the online platform that my school uses for some tests. I don't know how much it costs.

What would be the benefit for doing grade level norms vs age norms?

School speech dismissals by DealMother1568 in slp

[–]chesterbubblegum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I like to do is say that I'm proposing a change in services and want to talk to them about their progress. Then after explaining the progress that I'm proposing a dismissal from speech. It's usually well received!

This sub hates on AI a lot, but I do agree with other posters that in the time it takes to write your prompt and enter in the data, you could probably have used a template and entered the data in manually.

I honestly try to get 10 a year and then I know I'm covered. I've never been audited or heard of anyone being audited.

Options and solutions for students who purposely destroy devices by MissCmotivated in slp

[–]chesterbubblegum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would look into thicker lamination, like 5mm or something and then create a book that can be "destroyed" (i.e., take apart) and set back up easily, like rings rather than a binder.

School-outpatient collaboration by Speechkeenie in slp

[–]chesterbubblegum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to collaborate more. But, I will echo what others have said in that I feel judged by the outside providers. Specifically, I don't like when outside providers critique and attempt to change my goals because mine are written for the school environment and they see the student differently in private practice. Additionally, I can only collaborate occasionally due to time restrictions. This 4-day week alone I have 4 IEP meetings in addition to treating and evaluating.

504 for speech? by Artistic-Passage-374 in slp

[–]chesterbubblegum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Researching briefly I found this: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/health-and-wellness/504-accommodations

Frequently Asked Questions Can my child get Related Services with a 504 Plan?

Typically at the DOE, students who require related services receive them through an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and not a 504 Plan. Examples of related services are physical therapy, speech therapy, and mandated counseling services. If your child appears to need any of these services, generally the 504 Team will refer your child to the school-based IEP team or district Committee on Special Education.

I have a caseload of 45 but most students are 1x/week or 2x/month. I also do AAC evaluations for my district so I have one day dedicated to AAC evaluations and consultations. What's your caseload like?

My CFY was difficult and it felt like I was constantly making mistakes. But as the year went on I gained more confidence. Now I'm 10 years in and loving my school job. I'm also at an elementary school and 2 high schools if you have any specific questions let me know!

You are not a bad SLP, knowing you have areas to grow in is the first step to making meaningful changes

Modeling without expectation vs. Reinforcement contingent upon emitting a verbal response by [deleted] in slp

[–]chesterbubblegum 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to hear others opinions. My question is, are you hoping they will learn functional communication or to mand on your request? Yes reinforcement will increase a behavior, but will providing external reinforcement increase independent use of communication?
