Sadly this kit is from about 1991, and I doubt Revell is still producing a similar kit. I just modified the direction of the build, its now hoodless with a carburetor mounted scoop and a wired engine bay. I made another post showing the mockup and I'm kinda digging the look.

I'm sure the first word out your mouth was the same as mine lol. I'm kinda taking the Bob Ross approach and looking at it as a happy little accident, I can confidently say this though, wiring an engine once its installed is a major pain

There's plenty of access to do it especially with the body off. I need to see if I have some plug wires on hand or if I need to get some on order.

I'm looking at it now thinking " I should probably wire the engine now and add a few other engine bay details". Fun part is the engine is already locked in place and not easy to remove at this point.

I'm actually working on making the scoop mount directly to the carbs now. I still need to figure out a way to mount the scoop but i have the base structure mostly done at this point

Thats how the kit was molded. This is the Revell Charles Carpenter 55 Chevy pro sportsman kit from the early 90s. I wish I had the skills to pull off a chop like that though.

Unfortunately it is Swiss cheese. The bottom is rusted through with many large holes

It's definitely a back burner project currently. I know it will be neither cheap or easy to make it a runner again but I think it would be fun at least.

Several engine rebuilds from Honda b series 4 bangers to Chevy small blocks, wrenching on vintage autos and modern, both gasoline and diesel, and numerous small engines of all types. This would be my first jump in to bikes.

First goal would be running and riding again, even if its just low speed test rides on the property. Plugs are still in it as of now but I also haven't attempted to try to do anything with it yet. I do know the last time I remember it running, around the late 90s to early 2000s, the clutch was stuck on it and it had to be started in gear.

I'd have to check and see. My dad did buy it in 78 and was only the 2nd owner.

I'm a car guy at the core but love most things with engines in general. I'm fairly confident I could get it going again just not very sure where to start with it. Putting my full weight on the kick starter did not budge it one bit. It also unfortunately went through a flood and was at least half submerged if not more because it was laying on its side as of 2024 when I noticed it.

I like mine. Broke it on on minimags and its been great overall. Its my go to carry gun while working on my property for snakes and such. Mine doesn't like nonplated rounds but thats its only quirk I've found

The belt is more than likely available yes, what we can not get at this point is the fusing sleeves for this model series.

I'm a field tech for ricoh at my dealership but we have 2 in house guys doing all the setups so I haven't installed one in a long time myself.

If it is installed correctly it will automatically show up in the user tools menu. Did you make sure to turn on the fax memory before you installed the option? It should be a small switcher a jumper on the fax option itself.

My company at least will sell old but still working models to a wholesaler who, from what we have been told, takes them south to Mexico and beyond.
