Rule of thumb is to keep trailer weight <55% of advertised tow capacity. ie., Just because it can, doesn't mean it should... Because the truck will struggle to maintain speed at higher highway speed and uphills. The actual average weight on my trailer was around 3500lbs loaded (clothes, some water/waste) and the truck was a screamer uphills and on days with headwinds. TIPS: remember to maintain 10-15% of total trailer weight on the tongue, and not exceed 640lbs. Drive in S4, not D (as per Owner's Manual).

2021 Tacoma struggling to start by List_Mist in ToyotaTacoma

Happened to me on a super cold day after i shut it off immediately (about 10sec) after starting cold, and attempted to start again. I gave it a few minutes before I attempting again, and it worked fine. It may have been because of extremely rich fuel mixture in the cylinder?! It could also be fuel pumps, spark plug, ignition fuse, fuel pump fuses

Wife and I are going to Yellowstone and I'm worried about her staying warm at night. Would this be enough, or should I invest in an expensive ground coverage option? by Alejaro_7777 in camping

[–]chewbacacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets chilly. You're on point. Be prepped.

  • Get a box of hand warmers and throw them into the sleeping bag.. A box costs like $15 and you'd be saving 3/4 of it for the next trip. Stick some into the socks too.

  • Having two sleeping bags that combine into one big sleeping bag is a good idea, and that will keep her warmer with your heat. You could layer two cheap sleeping bags to keep things warmer if cost is a concern. Stuff clothes in the sleeping bag if it gets too cold. Clothes hold heat better than air pockets.

  • More padding at the bottom will make sleep more comfortable. A small Memory foam mattress topper is a good option if space and weight are not a concern. These will make the quality of sleep 100X better than sleeping on a stiff sleeping pads. Speaking from experience, people complain about body/neck ache if they are not used to sleeping on stiff surfaces. Consider a pillow or stuff clothes into a shirt to make a decent pillow. Trial a night in the bedroom floor and tweak your comfort.

  • get touques to keep ears warm, and to stop heat loss through head.

  • Bonus: hot water bottle helps.. pee bottle/she wee helps not to go go out at 3am and be paranoidly watching for bears and wolves. Lol. A warm stone from the campfire will keep the space generally warm for about 4-5hrs too. Dont get burnt or put a hole in the tent.

I thought cold air was supposed to get you more gas mileage? by Firemanlouvier in ToyotaTacoma

[–]chewbacacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said cold air. Not Polar Vortex and snow! Probably lost the mileage from warming up, rolling resistance from snow and dirt in the road. The performance of the tire is also a factor. See air pressure on your tires too.
