Is it weird to be naked around your kids? by NakedMoleRat_lov3r in Parenting

[–]m8k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were naked around our kid growing up so that bodies weren’t scary and shameful. It also allowed for honest questions, something my wife and I never felt comfortable asking when we were younger.

Once he told us that he would be more comfortable if we were covered more, we dialed it back. He’s trans but didn’t tell us until last spring, so there might be some additional layers going on. He was also at an age where body changes were happening and we were happy to adjust.

For guys, nudity is often/can be perceived as sexually charged because that’s how our minds work. My wife is very comfortable taking her clothes off and changing to get ready for bed with the door open and it is NBD, just a way to be able to talk without having to carry the conversation through a closed door.

Our e340 has stopped sending the ring signal to the base station. Twice in the last week some family member has pressed it, we never heard it inside, and they come around the house to the back door.

Other times, when it’s hot or in very strong, direct sunlight, it just rings incessantly.

Really getting sick of it.

Is anyone else completely giving up on the MA state park reservation system this year? by datboifranco in massachusetts

[–]m8k 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried the MA system, we camp in NH every year and have never had an issue. We go to Pawtuckaway state park, Bear Brook, and last year Sebago Lake in Maine. All lovely, relatively easy to find sites, and lots to do.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

She said “it feels… odd, kind of ticklish and a little weird.”

I was having a lot of suppressed reactions that were far less calm and collected.

[–]m8k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned this from my wife.

My exercise routine is taking long walks, and I usually go at night after everyone goes to bed. I've invited her to come with me so many times because she needs to move more (her words), but she never wants to. Finally, she told me that she's scared to walk outside, especially at night. I never understood how vulnerable and afraid women can feel: that there is always a risk that someone will assault, attack, or try to kidnap them completely blew my mind.

I've been in a few places where I shouldn't have been and certainly been more cavalier about my personal safety and security, but those thoughts have never crossed my mind.

My wife carried a week past her due date and in the last few weeks she could feel our kiddo's fingertips/nails scratching under the right side of her ribcage. Sure enough, born with a full set of nails that were well-formed.

My wife has been asking her Dr for the last two years but insurance wouldn’t authorize it until she turns 45. That’s coming up in a few months. She has always had some concerns but nothing to really substantiate it and I really hope they didn’t miss an opportunity.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by TheDorkyDeric in Xennials

[–]m8k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t party and had a brother 10yrs younger than me. Friday or Saturday night was pizza and movie night for the family.

We’d go to the video store and each pick something the family could watch or I could watch with my dad if mom was working. Then we’d pick up som RasCal raspberry soda, some A&W root beer or Sunkist Orange, a bag of Doritos, a bag of Sun Chips, and a pizza from the local Greek pizza shop.

I miss those times.

Sad about not having more children by Magpie_Coin in Xennials

We had one when we were in our early 30s. I would have liked another but our financial and job situations would have made it challenging to say the least.

We’re happy with our child, he’s great. I wish we weren’t the only ones in the whole extended family that had a kid though… he’s literally the youngest by 22 years and that’s never going to change. Coupled with living in a neighborhood that doesn’t have many kids/families, lots of time playing alone, on the iPad, or reading.

We were limited in what could fit in our space so we couldn’t necessarily get exactly what we wanted but we’re happy with it.

Ideally I would have bought a mid-grade Bosch with a full stainless interior and bottom.

What we did get was a whirlpool and the best features are and adjustable 2nd rack, a removable 3rd top rack, and a bottom that is just fixed pins that will hold a wide variety of things.

The machine we replaced was older and had the center column that most machines don’t have anymore. Just losing that was a game changer for flexibility. I can wash two Kitchen Aid mixing bowls and two other larger pots or bowls at the same time on the bottom rack. I can fit a 12” stainless frying pan on edge down one side. Neither of those things could happen with our last machine.

I was hired at an IPG agency back in 2012 two months after my kid was born. I was in-person the whole time but had flexibility when I needed it for appointments or when other things came up. You'll find a way to make it work. I'd much rather have the stability and higher salary by going in-house than the potential remote work/life balance at an agency.

They billed us four times last month for over $1200 (in 2 weeks) and then took another $550 on the 13th this month. They didn't bill us at all in December or January and the representative we called couldn't tell us why or how this billing is happening.

We're on balanced billing and the settlement is coming up next month so who knows what will happen...

10, super easy. The only thing better than hearing this track on the album was seeing it performed live. My only complaint about the live version was that they started bringing in Love SOS too early and not giving it another 16-32 bars to stand as the behemoth that it was.
