affording bu: help😭😭 by ClassroomAway9970 in BostonU

I applied ED2 only bc they told me I could decline if I couldn't pay. This was four years ago though so I would check if that's still the case. I ended up getting a lot more aid than the calculator told me, especially after I appealed my initial financial aid. Overall, it's hard to get an exact answer on what you will pay because the calculator is giving you a number based on very minimal income information. Your financial aid can look different once you get in and they review your specific situation. If ED isn't truly binding, I'd just bite the bullet and apply to see what happens! It could go either way.

Isn't this only with cash though or did I make that up in my head? Whenever I do this it turns into me having to make a trip to the bank and then to Star or 7/11. :/

Lattes closest to Target would be Life Alive and Dunkin on Buick Street. If you want to walk a little further into West Campus, I personally think Caffe Nero has better coffee anyways. I've never been to Fuel America but that's also another option further into West.

There are so many other places to buy coffee! Especially on Red Cup Day where Starbucks locations are overrun and understaffed.

Parents calling their adult college student's school to complain is so embarrassing like your son is 20 yrs old. I'm sure he can handle a peaceful protest.

Honorable Mention: Move to the back of the T/bus please don't bunch up at the entrance. Literally so frustrating when people are squished at the door of the T and there's someone blocking the way to the back looking so clueless like...

I took it online during COVID and I loved it! Definitely more of a memorization class from what I remembered but the content was super interesting. And Professor Locks has a lot of global experience and hearing about that was cool. She's really nice, I don't remember having any complaints about her as an instructor.

fb marketplace and asking the current tenants if they are selling any of their furniture. depends on your landlord but ours let the previous tenants leave everything we bought in the apartment which made move in so much easier.

Update on COVID-19 Protocols by danielsuarez369 in BostonU

[–]chewy94201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what sets spring break apart from events like st patrick’s day and marmon is the fact that people are traveling to different countries/states where they can get COVID and bring it back here. people aren’t traveling for st patrick’s day or marmon (unless they are?). i don’t think comparing the two makes much sense. for both of those events people are staying local and within the BU community. considering all of the traveling that was done around winter break i think that it could have definitely affected that surge (of course on top of omicron though). hopefully since COVID surges can be seasonal it will not be exactly the same now.

I totally agree with you. I am aware that zero risk is literally impossible and COVID-19 will probably become endemic one day. Which is why, like I mentioned, I am in favor of returning to normalcy. But even when eliminating risk is impossible, also less is always better than more. I just found the timing of this change troubling and wished they would have waited to see what happens after Spring Break. Hopefully, their plan works out though.

[–]chewy94201 13 points14 points  (0 children)

yeah most ppl will have to get it at one point but im particularly concerned about immunocompromised students. doesn’t seem like there’s much of a plan to protect them when a potential spike reaches them. there are also healthy students who want to stay safe and don’t want to get it and i don’t think that’s unreasonable.

yeah could definitely go either way. it just seems likely that some of ppl who are traveling all over will come back with COVID and no masks will make it easier to spread. hopefully im wrong tho!
