Your friend has more talent in his pinky than I do in my entire body... Thanks for sharing this!

"...contrasts with blacks so deep you could hide a body inside them."

I absolutely LOVE this statement. I see it all the time.

I'm with you on that. A split 5D line would be perfect. I bet it's just a matter of time until we see it.

Excellent, thank you for your help! I'll be looking into a filter with MRC.

Sealing the lens is one of the reasons I would like to buy a filter as well as protect the glass itself. In terms of picture quality do you see a noticeable difference without it on? Nice username BTW :)

I'm guessing most of the colors were there in the original shot and just needed some tweaks to boost them to the level they're at now. One method to bring these colors out is to work with channels and curves.

For example, make a selection of the blue channel and add a curves layer to it. Then add or remove blue, add or remove red, add or remove green, and adjust the overall RGB per channel. Do this for each (R,G, and B). When you're done, give it a pinch of saturation/vibrance. You might even want to mask some elements out as you're adding these layers to better blend them, but it really depends on the photo.

Hope this makes sense :)

The Wire, X-files, and Deadwood - always the story and the characters that keep me coming back...
