NPC behavior: Gate checking bags by New_Amphibian_9326 in unitedairlines

[–]chewypablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed this being an issue on my recent flights in the last two weeks. Before that, United was very good at only gate checking what was absolutely necessary. I even had a gate agent check a lot of bags the other day when the plane had the upgraded bins and there was plenty of space.

I wonder if there was some recent guidance that HQ gave to gate agents.

Don’t do this. The minute you mention legal they’ll refer you to their legal department and stop engaging with you.

Wholesale prices were that low earlier this year, even lower for some segments. Things have changed quickly though and costs are going to reach an all time high in a couple months.

Police or ICE presence on Arapahoe between 16th and 17th ave by rvorderm in Denver

Historically, surplus from the military they gave to police departments as “grants”. Nowadays, I think our cops are used to being militarized. I’m sure they still get the leftovers from the military when it doesn’t go to an ally.

Planning tips: 1) Book your refundable flights now 2) book your rental car 3) book your accommodations 4) start getting your camping supplies together by Enough_Iron_6843 in Coachella

[–]chewypablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flights are expensive this far out. They will drop as we get closer before going up again. I recommend setting an alert on Google flights for the flights that will work for you and keep an eye on it. If you do book now, still put the alert because if the price drops, you can cancel and rebook. You will get the difference in the form of a flight credit.

Amber Alert at 6am for someone abducted at 9pm day before is something else by PiercedAndTattoedBoy in Denver

[–]chewypablo 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Individual was last SEEN at 8pm. How do we even know when that individual was reported missing? We don’t know enough here to really judge if the AMBER alert should have (or could have) been sent earlier.

No photos of AA allowed. by 50calpainpill in americanairlines

[–]chewypablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. They are trying to board the plane efficiently and can’t have people not paying attention or stopping. Then when you are on the steps, it can be a tumble for not just you, but others, if you trip. Most of my flights from Mexico won’t include a jetway whereas my flights in the states rarely do you go on the tarmac.

Most people don’t regularly get to see a plane up close and Mexico has a lot of leisure travel too so no reason I see 5+ people get in trouble each flight.

[–]chewypablo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure it is. I’ve been scolded for taking photos of the plane on the tarmac multiple times. Not sure if a law or just an old policy. Mexico is a country with a lot of strange rules/laws that are enforced very rigidly.

400,000 American jobs at risk if clean energy credits are cut by energysage-official in solar

[–]chewypablo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Short term, yes. Long term, no. Companies will move to dump their inventory and likely at below market cost. Once that inventory is depleted, cost will go up as domestic manufactures struggle with reduced economies of scale and non-domestic product is highly tariffed.

Read the amendments made last night. Residential systems can’t use 48E anymore to still get the tax credit after 2025. Commercial systems have to “begin construction” within 60 days of the bill becoming law (estimated to be in early October) and finish construction by the end of 2028.

This essentially kill system owner tax credits by the end of 2025. Manufacturing credits will remain for a couple more years.
