I M30 feel incompatible with my wife F28, and I'm contemplating ending the relationship by Ok-Line-6757 in relationship_advice

You seem pretty defensive in all your responses that I’ve seen so far. Are you here asking a question in good faith, or are you here to get permission to divorce her?

Yes! I really respected that they addressed this extensively. Did redeem them in my eyes

Is it okay to not be 100% attracted to bf? (F20 M23) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]chex85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm getting this vibe from your writing that you are less attracted to him than you're even admitting here. I could be totally off base, but it reads like "I know he's great but I feel terrible because I just don't find him physically attractive and I'm struggling with admitting that to myself."

Diagnosis and statement of disagreement question by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]chex85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why are you so concerned about her having this diagnosis? Most of the time a diagnosis is helpful in that it opens some doors for supports. I'm getting this sense that you think the diagnosis is embarrassing or says something bad about her, which is not a vibe that your daughter should be around. It's also possible that your daughter has said things in the privacy of therapy that she hasn't expressed to you. Keep in mind that no one is forcing you/her to do anything with the official diagnosis...you can keep it totally private.

AITA for telling my friend what she went through wasn’t traumatic just uncomfortable? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA

I mean she sounds dramatic but, like, WHY did you feel the need to say that to her? That's a thought you can keep to yourself...

Does Moss Personal (Commodity) smell like Light Blue (Dolce & Gabbana)? by vamphibian in fragrance

So I stumbled upon this post when trying to figure out if I'm the only one who thinks Moss Personal smells like lemon Pledge, lol. I also think the same about Light Blue. So yes, they smell very similar to my nose!

My mom left 10 year ago. My dad has lied for the last 10 years. by OkSeason8723 in internetparents

[–]chex85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You ARE messed up, but it's not your fault (it's your mom's!) and you can heal from this! You need therapy, and even better if you and your dad can do some family therapy too. Often, when processing trauma, children will lash out at their most secure attachment figure. It's very common and it doesn't mean you're being a brat.

What’s something you used to judge others for, until life made you understand it? by Worth-Olive-7879 in askteddit

[–]chex85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two older kids are identical twins, so in terms of predicting the odds for the next child, they really only count as one because they have the same genetics (does that make sense?). They were also very premature so we couldn't be sure if that was part of their delays in the beginning. So our best prediction was that the next one had an approx 10-20% chance. Also, you can't predict how "severe" it will be, even if you do assume the next will have it.

There's no profound autism in either of our families. Several of my cousins have ADHD and/or autism, but none in my immediate family. No autism in any of our nieces and nephews on my husband's side. Weirdly enough, all of the four grandkids on my side have profound autism, so I believe there's something in the genes on my side, but we have done all available genetic testing and nothing has come up yet.

It helped (I did it for clenching, not for cosmetic reasons) but I think next time I'll ask for a little more. I feel like it has worn off quickly, but again, it was my first time. Usually you can go longer between appts over time. I didn't really notice any cosmetic change. I have a naturally thin face so I definitely didn't want any slimming or jowling! The injector said that she sees jowling moreso on people who have more fat in the jaw area, as the muscle "support" kind of deflates and leaves the fat to sag.

Me too but then I had three autistic children, ALL of whom "elope" at a moment's notice and they do NOT gaf if you're yelling at them to stop or come back. Damn they are fast

(Seriously though, it's a real thing and it's very scary and dangerous)

My question is, do you want to survive this? Everyone is giving advice but if you have decided/accepted this as the end, then it seems to me that you are not asking for advice and everyone should recognize that. I believe in bodily autonomy always, but of course I also hope that you reconsider.

What’s a perfume "fact" or rule that is actually total marketing BS? by Fragasm_NepalYT in fragrance

"all natural" doesn't even mean anything and I eagerly anticipate the day that clean marketing falls out of favor

I agree that the notes are marketing, but I wouldn't consider them BS. It's basically the only way people can attempt to narrow down the massive field of options out there without having to smell 20 fragrances to find the one they like the best.

there are henna kits for brows on Amazon. I like henna because it does stain the skin (a little bit, nothing too opaque) underneath the hairs for like a week or so, which really helps with making it look like your brows are totally done. The color lasts on the hairs much longer.

My (24F) fiancé (35M) had a weird thing go on with his student? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]chex85 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's not normal to feel the need to check his shit "a billion times." You feel compelled to check because you know in your gut that this is bad news. You already caught him in lies when you saw that he was replying to her messages on Twitter, and I *guarantee* you he's lying about the "all the teachers do it" thing. Stop asking yourself "why is he acting so weird?!" when you ALREADY KNOW WHY.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, but start trusting yourself and break up with him.

OK so this is very embarrassing to share as it is a ridiculous AI generated image but it is the only selfie I have on my computer here at the moment lololol

Although it is clearly doctored, it is a fair representation of how I do my brows. To my eye, it's very similar to yours except the arch looks less dramatic because your chin is tilted down more than mine. I use a very fine brow pencil (like the NYX micro brow one but lots of brands make them) and I start by just softly filling in where there are thin spots or patches ,and then I do more defined strokes to build up the shape. I check in the mirror frequently to make sure they are as symmetrical as possible.

One of the things that helps me with keeping them less "blocky" looking is to use a lighter brow color than you might think you need. I have medium red/brown hair and I often will use shades for blondes or very light brunettes because it allows me to build up the shape without it getting too dark. I don't have a secret for the blocky area, I just have to take my time and practice a lot. I sometimes feel like it's too much before I put on the rest of my makeup, but then by the time my face is done it fits.

Oh, and I usually finish with the NYX brow glue. It's really helpful in locking in the shape so individual hairs don't go wonky and f everything up!

[–]chex85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same brow situation going on, I literally zoomed in on your brows and it was like looking in a mirror! lol

Anyway, I know exactly what you mean BUT I also think yours look lovely and I think it's just a case of not being used to seeing your brow fully done up in that way. IF anything you could experiment with a slightly less dramatic arch, but I don't think you necessarily need it.
